Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a repeater may receive a first signal from a transmitting device and determine an amplified version of the signal may not be successfully received by a receiving device. The repeater may transmit a mode switch message to the transmitting device to indicate a request for the transmitting device to switch to a transmission mode associated with one or more different transmission parameters based on detecting that the amplified version of the signal may not be received by the receiving device. The transmitting device may adjust one or more transmission parameters according to the mode switch message and may transmit a second signal to the repeater based on the adjusted transmission parameters. The repeater, operating according to the mode switch message, may receive the second signal and transmit an amplified version of the second signal to the receiving device.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a base station may receive, from a repeater having a first interface and a second interface, information associated with one or more capabilities of the repeater, the second interface being different from the first interface. The base station may determine an operation mode for the repeater based at least in part on the information associated with the one or more capabilities of the repeater, and may communicate with the repeater via the first interface or the second interface. In some aspects, a repeater may transmit, to a base station via a first interface, information associated with one or more capabilities of the repeater, and may communicate via the first interface or via a second interface in accordance with an indicated operation mode, the second interface being different from the first interface. The base station may determine a reference signal configuration based on the identified intelligent reflecting surface device. The reference signal configuration may include a first set of parameters associated with the intelligent reflecting surface device. The base station may transmit, to the UE, the intelligent reflecting surface device, or both, one or more reference signals in accordance with the first set of parameters. The base station may identify a second set of parameters associated with one or more reflecting elements of the intelligent reflecting surface device.

Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to systems, devices, apparatuses, products, and methods for wireless communication. For example, a communication system may include a repeater having a first communication interface that receives a control message that indicates a measurement configuration for a second communication interface of the repeater that is different than the first communication interface. The repeater receives, via the second communication interface, a first signal at the repeater from a first device. The repeater also measures a power metric associated with the first signal based on the measurement configuration. In some implementations, a base station or another device (e.g., UE), may communicate with the repeater and take one or more actions based on the power metric measured by the repeater.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which RF-domain wireless routers may repeat, extend, or redirect beamformed wireless signals received from one or more transmitters to one or more receivers. The router may receive transmissions at a mmW frequency using a first array of antenna elements, and provide the transmissions to a beamforming network, such as a Butler matrix, that outputs one or more a signals to a switching network. The switching network may perform switching to provide the one or more signals to desired inputs of an output beamforming network that outputs beamformed transmission beams via a second array of antenna elements.

Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to reporting a power limit along with an indication of at least one constraint upon which the power limit is based. In some aspects, the constraint is a radio frequency (RF) exposure constraint. For example, a power headroom limit calculated by a first apparatus may be constrained by a specific absorption rate (SAR) limit or a maximum permissible exposure (MPE) limit. The first apparatus may thus report to a second apparatus the current power headroom limit of the first apparatus along with an indication of whether the power headroom limit is constrained by an SAR limit or an MPE limit (e.g., as opposed to being constrained by a maximum transmit power limit). The second apparatus may then schedule the first apparatus taking into account the power headroom limit and the corresponding constraint (e.g., maximum power or SAR/MPE).

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support beam correlation across frequency bands for beam selection in the event of a frequency switch. For example, a base station may determine a configuration indicating a mapping between a set of beam identifiers (IDs) and a set of angle coverage ranges for a set of frequency ranges which corresponds to a user equipment's (UE) operating frequencies. In some examples, the UE may undergo a frequency switch and switch from a first operating frequency to a second operating frequency. The UE may select a beam ID based on the mapping and communicate with the base station via the second operating frequency using a beam associated with the selected beam ID.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for implementing a flexible beamforming architecture. In an example aspect, the apparatus comprises an antenna array comprising a first antenna element with a first feed port and a second antenna element with a second feed port. The apparatus also comprises a wireless transceiver with a first dedicated transceiver path coupled to the first feed port and a second dedicated transceiver path coupled to the second feed port. The wireless transceiver also comprises a flexible beamforming network configured to selectively be in a first configuration that couples both the first dedicated transceiver path and the second dedicated transceiver path to a first intermediate transceiver path of the wireless transceiver, and be in a second configuration that connects the first dedicated transceiver path to the first intermediate transceiver path and connects the second dedicated transceiver path to a second intermediate transceiver path of the wireless transceiver.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless repeater may receive a unicast transmission and may relay the unicast transmission as a multicast transmission to a set of user equipments (UEs). Transmitting the multicast transmission may involve retransmitting the unicast transmission or a signal derived from the unicast transmission in each of a set of beamforming directions. The multicast transmission may be transmitted over multiple antenna arrays or a single antenna array associated with a Butler matrix. Additionally or alternatively, the wireless repeater may receive transmissions from multiple UEs; may form an aggregated signal associated with the received transmissions; and may transmit a unicast transmission associated with the aggregated signal, such as to a base station. The multiple UE transmissions may be received over multiple antenna arrays or over a single antenna array associated with a Butler matrix.
