Abstract: A load reduction assembly includes an annular bearing cone configured to extend between a bearing assembly and a frame assembly and form a first load path therebetween. The load reduction assembly further includes an annular recoupler member configured to extend between the bearing assembly and the frame assembly and form a second load path therebetween. The second load path is parallel to the first load path. The recoupler member includes a shape memory alloy configured to change stiffness in response to a change in a stress condition, thereby regulating an imbalance condition of a rotor shaft coupled to the bearing assembly.

Abstract: A bearing assembly for use in a gas turbine engine is provided. The bearing assembly includes a bearing retainer having an inner portion, an outer portion spaced radially apart from the inner portion, and an intermediate portion connecting the inner portion and the outer portion, wherein the inner portion and the outer portion define a space there-between. The bearing assembly also includes a bearing housing having an extended portion positioned within the space. The bearing assembly also includes a locking assembly comprising a locking plate and an axial keyway that extends axially away from the locking plate. The locking plate is coupled to the bearing retainer and the axial keyway is coupled to the extended portion of the bearing housing.

Abstract: A retention housing for the outer race of a bearing of a gas turbine engine includes a spring finger housing connected to and overlying a bearing housing that is connected to the outer race of the bearing. The spring finger housing includes an arrangement of spring fingers that yields a lightweight housing capable of withstanding very high radial loads combined with very high torsional windup and axial thrust load. A plurality of edge recesses are defined in the bearing housing and a plurality of lug tabs extending radially from the engine's interface shell limit are disposed in the edge recess to limit the deflection and self-arrest the distortion of the retention housing. A gas turbine engine includes the retention housing described above.

Abstract: A seal assembly for a turbomachine includes a rotating component, a non-rotating component having a ring carrier, a face seal ring, and a joint disposed between the ring carrier and the non-rotating component. The non-rotating component is arranged with the rotating component at a sealing interface. The joint is capable of linear and tilt displacement to allow the non-rotating component to displace with respect to the rotating component. The sealing interface defines a gap between the face seal ring and the rotating component. The seal assembly also includes at least one damping element arranged with the ring carrier for maintaining the seal assembly centrally in a radial direction in the turbomachine. Further, the damping element(s) includes at least one mass element.

An example system includes a pump including a chamber, a shaft positioned at least partially in the chamber, and a bearing to support the shaft, the chamber including a chamber inlet and a chamber outlet, the chamber to hold a fluid in a first state, a first conduit to carry the fluid in a second state of the fluid, the first conduit fluidly coupled to the chamber inlet, a second conduit to carry the fluid in the first state of the fluid, the second conduit fluidly coupled to the chamber outlet, at least one jet pump to deliver a mixture of the fluid in the first state of the fluid and the second state of the fluid to a third conduit, and a heat exchanger coupled to the first conduit upstream of the first inlet.
