Abstract: Methods and devices for a wireless accessory device (AD) comprising a cellular radio to communicate with a cellular network using the cellular radio. The wireless AD establishes a texting session with a network entity through the cellular network and using the cellular radio. The wireless AD initiates a countdown timer in response to establishing the texting session. The wireless AD determines that a companion device to the wireless AD is reachable by the wireless AD. The wireless AD refrains from pairing with the companion device until the countdown timer expires in response to determining that the companion device is reachable by the wireless device. After expiration of the countdown timer, if the companion device is still reachable by the wireless AD, the wireless AD may pair with the companion device and/or power down its cellular radio.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for network delaying cellular re-registration during critical conditions. A wireless device may register for cellular service with a cellular network. The wireless device may receive a configuration update command from a network element of the cellular network. The configuration update command may request re-registration of the wireless device. The wireless device may determine to delay responding to the configuration update command based at least in part on one or more conditions in effect at the wireless device. For example, one possible such condition may include if a protocol data unit session associated with emergency services is active at the wireless device.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for refreshing a GUTI of a UE. The UE may receive a GUTI from an AMF as part of a registration process. After a timer has expired, the UE may receive a new GUTI from the AMF. The timer may be provided by the UE as a request for use by the AMF. Alternatively, the timer may be used by the UE and the UE may request the new GUTI upon expiry of the timer, e.g., using an existing message or a new message, as desired.

Abstract: A device, system, and method persists network registration rejection causes. The method is performed at a device connected to a network and comprising a temporary memory and a persistent memory, the device using the data stored in the temporary memory when performing network registration operations. When a power cycle is detected, the method includes determining whether there is persistent data in the persistent memory for a first attempt to register with the network prior to the power cycle, the persistent data including a rejection cause for the first attempt. When there is the persistent data in the persistent memory, the method includes determining whether the persistent data is valid for a second attempt to register with the network after the power cycle. When the persistent data is valid, the method includes generating and storing cause data based on the persistent data in the temporary memory prior to the second attempt.
