Abstract:
A method for intra-user quality of service (QoS) uplink scheduling may include determining scheduling types associated with active uplink connections that are maintained by the subscriber station. The method may also include determining QoS parameters corresponding to the different scheduling types. The method may also include scheduling the active uplink connections for uplink transmissions based on the different scheduling types and their corresponding QoS parameters.
Abstract:
A radio access network comprises a base station controller and a plurality of radio base stations. The radio base stations connect to the base station controller in a daisy chain configuration via a shared communication link. At least one radio base station in the chain includes a priority queue for scheduling packets to be transmitted via the shared communication link to an adjacent radio base station. The priority queue schedules packets for transmission over the shared communication link based on the location of the terminating radio base station for each packet so that packets traversing more hops are given priority over packets traversing fewer hops.
Abstract:
A method for data recording in a data area of an optical storage medium. The method determines a start position of the data area for data recording, determines a test position of the data area according to the start position, performs an optimum power calibration (OPC) procedure to determine an optimum laser power level for the test position, and writes data from the start position using the optimum laser power level.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for remotely debugging an application program over the Internet is described. A software vendor provides an interface program along with an application program to a customer. The interface program detects a debug request initiated by a customer operator on a customer computer, and establishes a connection with a debug program on a vendor computer over the Internet. The interface program takes over control of the application program from the customer operator, and takes various actions including running a diagnostic sequence received from the debug program on the application program to debug the application program.
Abstract:
A slingshot body for use with an elastic member in slinging a projectile. A fork portion to which the elastic member is to be attached and a gripping portion to be grasped by a user of the slingshot body are provided. Mounting apparatus pivotally connects the fork portion and the gripping portion to one another to allow movement of the gripping portion within the user's hand.
Abstract:
A method is described that is implemented by a server for securely providing a text file to a client for execution. The method includes providing an encrypted text file and a program facilitating execution of the encrypted text file to the client. Such providing may be over the Internet or using a computer readable medium such as compact disc. The provided program responds to a run command to decrypt the encrypted text file, and feed the decrypted text file to an interpreter for execution.
Abstract:
A base station architecture splits modem functionality into modulator and demodulator entities, each configured to handle multiple telephone calls. A high-speed digital bus with associated routing elements connects multiple-channel (i.e., multiuser) modulator and demodulator elements. The modulator and demodulator elements may be physically separated, residing on different cards, and even different shelves, within the base station. During softer handoff between forward channels of the base station, multiple modulator elements use the address of a demodulator element in communication with a mobile subscriber unit. A base station controller broadcasts forward-link frames to all modulator elements. The multiple modulator elements simultaneously receive forward-link frames from the base station controller. The multiple modulator elements filter these forward-link frames and accept only those to be transmitted to the particular mobile subscriber unit in communication with the demodulator element.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for rendering an integrated circuit design layout is described. Graphics files are generated for selected zoom-in factors from cell-based information of the integrated circuit design, and stored in memory. When a computer operator selects a zoom-in factor greater by a predetermined amount than the largest of such selected zoom-in factors, a selector enables a rendering engine to render the integrated circuit design layout from the cell-based information. On the other hand, when the computer operator selects a zoom-in factor less than the largest of such selected zoom-in factors plus the predetermined amount, the selector enables a graphics processor to render the integrated circuit design layout from appropriate ones of the graphics files.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for performing an inter-system soft handoff is described. In accordance with the present invention, when a subscriber unit crosses from a first cellular system to a second cellular system, a base station controller determines if sufficient network resources are available to conduct a inter-system soft handoff. If so, the base station controller generates a set of signaling messages that cause call processing resource to be allocated and for the call to be processed at the second cellular system. The base station controller then perform data-selection and data-broadcast for the call by transmitting data to the subscriber unit by way of the second cellular system as well as via one or more base stations to which the base station controller is directly coupled. The determination as to whether sufficient network resources are available to conduct the inter-system soft handoff is based on the type of connection that exists between the first cellular system and the second cellular system, the number of inter-system calls being conducted, and the frame offset of the call currently being processed.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for avoiding conflicts between evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (eMBMS) operations and paging and/or mobile originated (MO) operations in communication systems. A method for wireless communications by a user Equipment (UE) is provided. The method generally includes identifying at least one evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS) session available for receiving one or more eMBMS services from a base station. The method also includes taking one or more actions to reduce a conflict between receiving the one or more eMBMS services from the base station and receiving a paging message from the base station during the eMBMS session. Numerous other aspects are provided.
