    摘要: An electrode for the ohmic heating of a particulate liquid flowing therethrough having an inlet and an outlet that are fluidly connected and are arranged in such a way that there is a change of direction of 60°-120° between the inlet and the outlet. A cell for the ohmic heating of a particulate liquid flowing therethrough may have two such electrodes and a dielectric tube that fluidly connects the two electrodes. An apparatus for the ohmic heating of a particulate liquid flowing therethrough may have six such cells that are fluidly connected in series and are electrically connected to a triphasic power supply, so that the increase of temperature of the liquid at any cell is substantially the same.

    摘要: A Joule heating apparatus with a housing having an internal cavity. The housing has an inlet portal for introducing fluid into the internal cavity and an outlet portal for discharging the fluid form the internal cavity. The internal cavity includes an internal heating section with at least one electrode assembly. The electrode assembly has a supply electrode, a ground electrode, and a space between the supply and ground electrodes. The space of the electrode assembly is in fluid communication with the housing's inlet and outlet portals. The electrode assembly is adapted to form an electric field to heat via Joule heating the fluid flowing through the annulus. A method for Joule heating of a fluid is provided that uses the aforesaid apparatus to heat the fluid by applying an electric field thereto.

    摘要: Disclosed is a heating system for a roll-to-roll tape deposition system. The heating system includes a sacrificial tape that is transported through a deposition zone between a susceptor plate and a process tape. The sacrificial tape receives an accumulation of deposition material that otherwise may accumulate on the susceptor plate and reduce its efficiency and temperature uniformity. In some embodiments, the sacrificial tape is heated by passage of an electrical current, thereby allowing the sacrificial tape to replace the susceptor plate and separate heating elements used to heat the process tape. The sacrificial tape may be provided on a payout roll that passes through the deposition system to a takeup roll or in the form of a continuous loop of tape.
