摘要: An apparatus is operable with a host and a data storage component for controlling expansion of storage, and comprises: an allocating component responsive to a user input for allocating an expanded target storage space to a file system element to thereby make an expanded file system element; a file system metadata component for maintaining file system metadata including metadata for said expanded file system element; a file system I/O component responsive to said file system metadata component for controlling file system I/O between said host and said storage component; and a synchronizing component responsive to said file system metadata component for synchronizing data between a source storage space and said expanded target storage space; wherein said file system I/O component is operable to use said file system metadata component to access said expanded file system element prior to completion of action of said synchronizing component.

摘要: A storage drive and associated system and method for storing data locally at the storage drive and/or at cloud storage may buffer, in a local storage buffer, data to be stored at the cloud and upload the data to the cloud storage from the local storage buffer. Upon receipt of an acknowledgement, from the cloud storage, that the data was successfully uploaded, the storage drive may delete the data from the local storage buffer. The storage drive may provide a ghost file representation of the uploaded data through the storage drive, through which the data uploaded to the cloud storage may be accessed. The storage drive may access multiple cloud storage accounts, each corresponding to a file folder on the storage drive, allowing the user to easily access different cloud storage accounts. The storage drive may recover data that was deleted from either local persistent storage or the cloud storage.

摘要: Implementations are provided herein for establishing a failover cluster in a distributed file system that upon the occurrence of failover event, allows clients to actively migrate during ongoing file system activity from a source cluster to a target cluster without having to unmount an NFS export from the source cluster and remount the NFS export on the target cluster. Upon the occurrence of a failover event, clients can be rerouted to a target cluster that contains mirrored copies of the data the client was expecting to be stored on the original source cluster. However, in attempting to access the data, without unmounting and remounting an export, the client will continue to reference source cluster FSID and LIN identifiers when making NFS calls to the target cluster. Thus, implementations are provided herein for translating the requests of an NFS client on a target cluster after a failover event has occurred. A client can make NFS calls using FSID and LIN information of the original source cluster, and that information can be translated, e.g., through a reverse LIN map, to the unique LIN's of the target cluster, such that any failover migration of the client is transparent to the client.

摘要: As disclosed herein a computer program product for optimizing data synchronization when performing a block-level backup includes program instructions comprising instructions to receive a customized merging plan, create a padding map comprising missing data information, request missing data from a local backup server, wherein the instructions to request missing data comprise instructions to send the padding map to the local backup server, receive from the local backup server the missing data, and perform a snapshot consolidation according to the customized merging plan to provide a consolidated snapshot. The program instructions may include instructions to record missing data files and data blocks in the padding map. A computer system, corresponding to the computer program product is also disclosed herein.

摘要: A client device can be configured to perform a local index search and a server index search to automatically identify and upload content items on the client device that have not been uploaded to an online content management system. A local index search can include creating a unique local identifier of a content item and searching a local upload index that includes the unique local identifier of each content item that has been uploaded. A server index search can include creating a unique server identifier of the content item and searching a server upload index that includes the unique server identifier of each content item stored on the online content management system. Content items that are determined to have not been uploaded to the online content management system based on the results of the two searches, can be uploaded to the content management system by the client device.

摘要: Methods and systems for n-way cloning and synchronization of a user desktop image are provided. Example embodiments provide a Cloning and Synchronization System (“CSS”) which binds a server stored CVD object representing the user's desktop image to one or more endpoint devices. Each endpoint device receives a clone of the CVD object that comprises one or more layers of the server CVD depending upon the suitability of the endpoint device hardware and operating system to the server stored desktop. The cloned CVDs in the endpoint devices are then kept synchronized by synchronization operations. In one embodiment, the CSS allows only one endpoint device to push up changes to the server CVD. User files are synchronized with the all endpoints using a live sync process. System and managed applications may be intelligently merged into an inactive device rather than overwriting data modified on the inactive device.
