Abstract: Techniques are provided for caching data during an on-demand restore using a cloud block map. A client may be provided with access to an on-demand volume during a restore process that copies backup data from a snapshot within a remote object store to the on-demand volume stored within local storage. In response to receiving a request from the client for a block of the backup data not yet restored from the snapshot to the on-demand volume, the block may be retrieved from the snapshot in the remote object store. The block may be cached within a cloud block map stored within the local storage as a cached block. The client may be provided with access to the cached block.

Abstract: The present application provides a data processing method, a system, a computing device and a computer readable storage medium, wherein the data processing method is applied to a data processing node of a distributed data processing system and includes: receiving a plurality of data processing requests sent by a client, determining a target processing amount based on the number of the plurality of data processing requests, and limiting a flow of the plurality of data processing requests in accordance with the target processing amount to obtain a target data processing request; forwarding the target data processing request to a global transaction manager, receiving a processing result from processing the target data processing request by the global transaction manager, and returning the processing result to the client corresponding to each data processing request.

Abstract: Some users of a data management system (DMS) may use multiple computing environments to replicate and store virtual machines (VM)s, such as for backup and recovery purposes. For example, different replication environments may include one or more private data centers, one or more cloud environments or any combination thereof. A user may schedule a failover procedure for an application. A DMS may perform a failover procedure that reduces downtime and eliminates data loss. The DMS may capture and replicate a snapshot of a VM running on a source computing environment to a target computing environment, power down the VM on the source computing environment, capture and replicate a second snapshot of the VM to the target computing environment, and power on the VM at the target computing environment. As the additional snapshot includes a relatively small amount of data replication at the target computing environment may proceed quickly, reducing downtime.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for cross-region replication of block volume data. The techniques include a method wherein a computer system implements operations including creating a first snapshot of a block volume at a first geographic region and at a first logical time, the block volume including a plurality of partitions, transmitting first snapshot data to an object storage system at a second geographic region, creating a second snapshot of the block volume at the first geographic region and at a second logical time, generating a plurality of deltas, transmitting a plurality of delta data sets corresponding to the plurality of deltas to the object storage system at the second geographic region, generating a checkpoint at least in part by aggregating object metadata associated with the plurality of deltas and the first snapshot, receiving a restore request to generate a restore volume, and generating the restore volume from the checkpoint.

Abstract: A method includes determining, by a secondary backup storage system, that a first backup operation has completed and produced a first protection copy of assets stored in a client storage array, where a primary backup storage system is used to obtain a snapshot-based backup from the client storage array and provide the snapshot-based backup to the secondary backup storage system, where the first protection copy is generated using the snapshot-based backup. The method includes identifying a second backup operation that was started before the first backup operation was started, determining that the second backup operation successfully produced a second protection copy, and generating linking metadata that links the first protection copy to the second protection copy in response to determining that the second backup operation successfully produced the second protection copy, where linking metadata is used to restore at least a portion of the assets during a restore operation.
