Abstract:
Embodiments of an apparatus that provide functions to set and to verify the set point of a valve assembly in a single device. These embodiments forgo the need to use of two separate devices, one each to accomplish the tasks to set the set point and to verify the set point. Rather, the apparatus incorporates components that can assume different configurations including a first configuration that facilitates the task for setting the set point and a second configuration that facilitates the task of verifying the set point.
Abstract:
The performance of an individual is monitored based on measurements of a conformal sensor device. An example system includes a communication module to receive data indicative of a measurement of at least one sensor component of the conformal sensor device. The sensor component obtains measurement of acceleration data representative of an acceleration proximate to the portion of the individual. A comparison of a parameter computed based on the sensor component measurement to a preset performance threshold value provides an indication of the performance of the individual.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a sensor assembly and a method of sensing. The sensor assembly is for sensing a property associated with a structure of interest. The sensor assembly includes an elongate member constructed and arranged so as to be capable of assuming a structure-engaging form in which it is resiliently biased such that the member can engage with and grip the structure along at least part of the length of the member, and, at least one sensor supported by the elongate member.
Abstract:
A system supporting subject risk analysis and risk event management for detecting possible risk indications and the risk of a subject developing pressure injuries. The system includes monitoring risk events using a pressure sensing apparatus and by recording pressure values at a plurality of pixels of a sensing mat to determine subject's pressure distribution and associated pressure image at any given time. The mapping of pressure sensing elements coordinates of the pressure sensing apparatus to a subject-based coordinate system using applicable transformation functions enables risk analysis and display of subject's pressure distribution maps representing gathered data at different times. Pressure images of the subject's pressure distributions helps in identifying postures adopted by a subject, determining risk of a subject developing pressure injuries and registering possible bed-exit and bed-fall risk events.
Abstract:
An improved header assembly and corresponding port assembly comprising a tensioning member, wherein the tensioning member is isolated and separate from the weld portion and is adapted to place a threaded portion between the header assembly and port assembly in tension and maintain such tension, and thus relieve tension from the weld, before and after welding, thereby increasing the lifespan of the header and port assemblies.

A system for monitoring operating parameters for the pump section of an electrical submersible pump. The system includes an optic fiber associated with the pump section of an electrical submersible pump and having a sensor to detect at least one operating parameter within the pump section. The system also includes a signal analyzer operably associated with the optic fiber to receive an optical signal representative of the detected operating parameter.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing an integrated circuit includes forming in a substrate a measuring circuit sensitive to mechanical stresses and configured to supply a measurement signal representative of mechanical stresses exerted on the measuring circuit. The measuring circuit is positioned such that the measurement signal is also representative of mechanical stresses exerted on a functional circuit of the integrated circuit. A method of using the integrated circuit includes determining from the measurement signal the value of a parameter of the functional circuit predicted to mitigate an impact of the variation in mechanical stresses on the operation of the functional circuit, and supplying the functional circuit with the determined value of the parameter.
Abstract:
A system is provided for monitoring a force acting on a foot or a footwear. The system includes an assembly that is disposed proximate to a region of the foot or the footwear. The assembly includes a sensing device and a processor communicatively coupled to the sensing device. The sensing device is disposed on a flexible substrate or a stretchable substrate, where the sensing device conforms to the region of the foot or the footwear, and where the sensing device is used to measure data relating to the force acting on the foot or the footwear. The processor executes processor-executable instructions to analyze the data from the sensing device. The analysis can be used to provide an indication of the measured force.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for determining a correction parameter for a measurement channel (6) which is connected to a connection terminal (3) of an electric motor (2) in order to measure a terminal voltage (U1, U2), characterized in that the connection terminal (3) is connected to a first potential via switching elements (T1, T2, T3, T4) for driving the electric motor (2), after a steady state of the measurement channel (6) has been reached, the connection terminal (3) is connected to a second potential, which differs from the first, by changing over at least one switching element (T1, T2, T3, T4), the dynamic response of the measurement channel (6) is detected following connection to the second potential, and the correction parameter for the dynamic response of the measurement channel (6) is determined on the basis of the detected dynamic response of the latter.
Abstract:
A system for detecting stress in rails includes a railcar, having a rail temperature detector, and a rail imaging device oriented to produce images of rail joints and rail anchors. The imaging device and temperature detector are connected to a computer controller, which is programmed to provide an output signal indicative of estimated axial stress in the rail based upon rail temperature and the images of at least one of the rail joints and rail anchors.
