    Abstract: Enclosed paint tanks are maintained substantially free of pain residue by heating liquid thinner to vaporize the same, conducting the vapor to the head space of the tank, and causing the vapor to condense on the inside of the tank so that the liquid thinner rinses the side walls and keeps them clean. When the thinner is flammable, an inert gas is fed into the head space to maintain an inert protective atmosphere therein. The disclosed apparatus includes a pair of large, enclosed storage tanks each having an impeller and a common paint supply line. Conduits interconnect the tanks and a pump is provided for discharging the paint from either tank. The lowermost conduit has a storage chamber at either end and a ball is propelled between the chambers to loosen residue in the conduit. At the top of the tanks is a container for the liquid thinner. A float in the container maintains the level of the liquid thinner. A float in the container maintains the level of the liquid thinner. A heating element in the container is adapted to vaporize the thinner. Conduits lead from the container to the tanks to feed the vapor thereto.

    Abstract: The process for preparing benzodiazepin-2-one derivatives of the formula

    WHEREIN R1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, and rings A and B are either unsubstituted or substituted by one or more groups of nitro, trifluoromethyl, halogen, alkyl and alkoxy groups, which comprises subjecting a 2-amino- Alpha phenylbenzylideneaminoacetal derivative to ring-closure, hydrolyzing the resultant product to obtain the 2hydroxybenzodiazepine derivative, and subjecting such derivative to oxidation to yield the benzodiazepin-2-one derivative. Also provided are novel 1-alkyl-2-hydroxybenzodiazepine derivatives of the formula

    WHEREIN R''1 is lower alkyl and rings A and B may be either unsubstituted or substituted as defined above, such derivatives being useful as intermediates in the above process and also as tranquilizing agents.

    Abstract: A hot melt adhesive supply system is disclosed. The hot melt adhesive supply system includes an outer container defining an upper cavity and a lower cavity. The upper cavity includes an inner container having a top opening to receive unmelted hot melt adhesive pieces and a bottom aperture. The system also includes a dispensing mechanism between the upper cavity and the lower cavity. The dispensing mechanism regulates the dispensing of the unmelted hot melt adhesive pieces from the upper cavity to the lower cavity. The dispensing mechanism includes a base plate and one or more rotating members that rotate to move the unmelted hot melt adhesive pieces through a gap defined between the base plate and the bottom aperture. The system also includes a transfer conduit that communicates the unmelted hot melt adhesive pieces from the lower cavity to a hot melt adhesive melter.

    Abstract: A syringe attachment/detachment mechanism enables a syringe to be easily attached to and detached from a discharge device without causing twisting of a tube, and enabling the syringe and an adapter to be fixedly held in a desired orientation. In the syringe attachment/detachment mechanism and the device provided with the mechanism, the mechanism being adapted for a discharge device to which a syringe including an attachment part and an upper connection part is attached through screwing, the attachment part includes an inner cylindrical portion having a small-diameter opening, an outer cylindrical portion surrounding the inner cylindrical portion, and a screw portion. The attachment/detachment mechanism includes a support member including a cylindrical insertion portion into which the inner cylindrical portion is inserted, and having a channel formed therein for communication between the small-diameter opening and a nozzle of the discharge device. A rotation member includes a screw portion.

    Abstract: A screed box includes a screed bucket, a screed plate mount attached to the screed bucket, a screed plate slidably connected to the screed plate mount and a screed bar attached to a bottom of the screed bucket. The screed plate mount includes a sealing edge. The screed plate includes at least one screed flange. The screed bar includes a body and a sealing lip including at least one projection. The screed bar is slidable between an open position where the sealing lip engages the sealing edge and a closed position where the sealing lip is disengaged from the sealing edge, and the at least one projection engages the sealing edge when the screed bar is in the open position and when the screed bar is in a closed position.
