In addition to the readable media, the game also includes a game board, moveable play pieces, trivia question cards, random name cards, a numbered die, and a challenge die. The game board can be converted from long play to short play by lifting the endmost sections of the game board and placing them next to each other on top of intermediate sections of the game board. A path circumnavigates the game board and appears to be continuous in both long and short play modes. The begin and end regions reside at least partially on the endmost sections and appear as unbroken shapes when configured for both long and short play.

The board game is particularly, but not exclusively, adapted to develop and improve behavior skills for children and adults with developmental disabilities. These disabilities may include ones such as Mental Retardation, Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Down's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Spina Bifida. The Social Skill Builder games are specifically designed as an educational tool to help teach appropriate social skills, problem-solving, turn-taking, commenting, and peer interaction to children and adults with developmental disabilities.

A game comprises a system wherein points are awarded for each matching identification of a work from a body of works associated with a personality, preferably a movie in which a particular actor appeared. Players move along a pathway according to the roll of a die. Each position on the pathway provides an instruction for drawing a card on which the picture of an actor or their name appears. The player identifies as many of the actor's works as possible within an allowed time. Optionally, an instruction will cause a player to miss a turn or to draw a card enabling the opportunity to earn bonus points. Alternate embodiments of the game may include any genre in which a body of works can be credited to a personality. Further, the game may be played on alternate game interfaces, such as a computer.

An educational game for teaching mathematics has a game board with a continuous play path along its edge. Spaces are labeled with a mathematical category and a monetary amount. Each mathematical category has its own deck of cards with questions, answers and explanations. At least one of the spaces of the game board is labeled with the help category. When a player lands on this space they receive a help card, which permits that player to ask another player for help in solving a question. The game is played by moving a marker along the play path. If the marker stops on a space that has a mathematical category the player selects corresponding card. If the player's solution to the question and answer on the card match the player collects play money in the amount printed on the space. If not, play proceeds to the next player and the first player continues to work on the question, giving that player the ability to self-correct. All solutions may be collected as an assignment by a teacher in a classroom setting. The first player to accumulate a specified amount of play money is the winner.

A basketball skill teaching game apparatus and method for one or a plurality of players playing in a determined order. The apparatus features a game mat placed upon a playing surface and having a plurality of individual game squares arranged sequentially thereon. Upon a signal, from a starting point, the players commence play in a determined order and designated direction of play. Each player moves a determined number of squares from a starting point to a landing point which is another of the game squares, each of which has indicia thereon designating a specific physical exercise to be performed should a player land upon that square. Each of said players landing on their landing point during their respective turn reads the indicia thereon and communicates to fellow team members the specific physical exercise to be performed. When the team is done performing the exercise, the next player takes their turn and repeats the actions of the earlier player. The game is over when a signal is given and the team who has advanced the most squares wins.

A player may then place the corresponding mobster's card in a section of a game board designated as a player's personal penitentiary. Placement of a mobster card in the area designated as a player's personal penitentiary represents placement of that mobster in a prison. A secondary object of the game is to obtain the highest amount of money of any participating player.

The board is demarcated into a number of playing areas. Each playing area is subdivided into a plurality of abutting playing spaces. The playing areas are arranged in partially overlapping relationship so that the playing areas have at least some of the playing spaces in common. A set of cards for playing a game is also provided. Each card has a number of items selected from a predetermined category printed thereon. The category is identified on the card. The items are arranged in subgroups according to different degrees of difficulty regarding their perceived recognizability as being members of a set falling within the category.
