The present invention relates to organo(poly)siloxanes modified by phosphates (including alkali metal salts thereof or the like) suitable as a component of cosmetics, and to a process for the manufacture of organo(poly)siloxanes modified by phosphates (including alkali metal salts thereof or the like) comprising reacting an organo(poly)siloxane having a group HO--(R.sup.4 O).sub.q --R.sup.5' --OR.sup.6).sub.r -- in its molecular chain, wherein R.sup.4 -R.sup.6 are alkylene groups, with an oxyhalogenated phosphorus; and further reacting it with an alkaline solution. These phosphate-modified organo(poly)siloxanes can stably emulsify silicone oils commonly used as cosmetic raw materials, irrespective of temperatures, and exhibit excellent compatibility with polar components and good foaming capability, so that they are suitable as a component of cosmetics such as skin cosmetics, skin detergents, hair cosmetics, hair detergents, and the like.

The invention relates to a series of novel organofunctional silicone polymers which have a phosphate terminal functionality present within the polymer. Compounds of the invention, by virtue of their phosphate group, provide a nonvolatile lubricant antistat which can be applied to a variety of fibers. The compounds of the invention deposit on the fiber surface thereby altering the surface's physical properties. Compounds of the present invention by virtue of their linear nature are film formers on a variety of substrates, including hair and skin.The compounds of the present invention are prepared by phosphation of a hydroxyl group on the silicone polymer. The compounds useful as raw materials are terminal dimethicone copolyols. The introduction of a phosphate group onto the silicone polymer is achieved by reaction of the hydroxyl group on the silicone with a suitable phosphating reagent. Another method of introducing the phosphate group is by the phosphation of the hydroxy containing vinyl intermediate which is subsequently reacted with the silicone polymer by hydrosilation.

The present invention is an emulsified composition, including: (A): a titanium-atom-containing silicone resin; (B): one or more oil agents selected from the group consisting of a hydrocarbon oil, an ester oil, and a silicone oil, the oil agent being able to dissolve the component (A) and being liquid at 25° C.; and (C): water, where the emulsified composition contains no surfactant. Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide: an emulsified composition having excellent stability and usability without a surfactant; and a cosmetic material including the above emulsified composition and having excellent feeling of use.
