Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for the handover of a User Equipment (“UE”) from a first Distributed Unit (“DU”) of a wireless network to a second DU in a manner that minimizes or interruption of the delivery of traffic to the UE. When the UE is attached to a first DU, one or more second DUs may be identified as candidates for attachment to the UE. The one or more second DUs may be pre-loaded with context information and/or traffic for the UE. In some embodiments, a third mesh DU (“MDU”) may be identified as a candidate for attachment to a first MDU that is attached to a second MDU. The third MDU may be pre-loaded with context information and/or traffic for the first MDU.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide for a hybrid network device to serve as a zero- or low-latency relay for communications between a wireless network, such as a licensed wireless network, and one or more other devices. The hybrid network device may establish a connection with a base station of a wireless network via a licensed radio access technology (“RAT”). The hybrid network device may communicate with one or more devices via an unlicensed RAT. The hybrid network device of some embodiments may aggregate communications from devices and may serve as a single connection endpoint with respect to the base station, such that the base station need not maintain a relatively large number of connections to accommodate a relatively large quantity devices.

Abstract: A charging function device may include a processor configured to obtain subscription information associated with a user equipment (UE) device in a wireless communication network. The processor may be further configured to receive, from a gateway device, data flow information relating to data flows associated with the UE device; receive, from a policy device, policy information relating to policies applied to the data flows associated with the UE device; generate a record for the UE device based on the received data flow information and the received policy information, wherein the record identifies at least one account charge based on a particular data flow associated with the UE device; and provide the generated charging record to an account system.

Such performance characteristics or metrics may include throughput, latency, jitter, and/or other metrics. The marking may be performed on “user” traffic, which may be traffic that is generated or sent via the network by an application or service (e.g., a voice call service, a content streaming service, etc.), as opposed to “synthetic” or “test” traffic, which is traffic that is generated or sent for the purposes of testing performance of the network (e.g., traffic related to a “speed test” or the like).

Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for the network-implemented detection of locations that exhibit excessive density of individuals, and/or for the detection of individuals who do not maintain a minimum level of distance between each other. Location information of one or more User Equipment (“UEs”) may be monitored and compared to policy information to determine that the locations exhibit at least a threshold level of population density. Further, remedial measures may be taken when such situations are detected, such as alerting devices that are located within, or are heading towards, such locations.

Abstract: A method for activating bearers in radio access networks includes receiving information regarding channel conditions for a secondary RAT; identifying a first set of radio bearers for a primary RAT and a second set of radio bearers for the secondary RAT based on the received channel conditions; and establishing the first set of radio bearers associated with the primary RAT. The method may also include providing a message to a core network indicating that first set of radio bearers have been established for the primary RAT, the message includes an indication that the second set of radio bearers will be established after the core network has been configured for operation with the first set of radio bearers; reconfiguring a UE for establishing the second set of radio bearers associated with the secondary RAT; and indicating that the reconfiguration of the UE for the second set of radio bearers is complete.
