Abstract: A system may include a mobile integrated access and backhaul (M-IAB) base station configured to serve a set of user equipment (UE) devices; and a parent base station configured to establish a backhaul link for the M-IAB base station. The parent base station may be further configured to provide configuration data to the M-IAB base station that causes the M-IAB base station to report when a triggering condition for preparing a handover to a target parent node is satisfied; detect that the triggering condition is satisfied; and send, in response, a request to the target parent node to prepare the handover. The M-IAB base station may be further configured to detect that a handover condition is satisfied and send a handover request to the target parent node using the configuration data, in response to detecting that the handover condition is satisfied.

Abstract: A first User Equipment (“UE”) may communicate with a second UE via a communication link to determine an operational status of the second UE. The second UE may be connected to a network via one or more communication sessions. The first UE may determine, based on the communication link, that the second UE is non-operational, and may output, based on determining that the second UE is non-operational, a request to communicate with the network via the one or more communication sessions associated with the second UE. The network may modify the one or more communication sessions to be associated with the first UE based on the request, and the first UE may communicate with the network via the one or more modified communication sessions.

Abstract: Systems and methods described herein provide intelligent scheduling in a radio access network (RAN). A RAN device receives traffic characterization model parameters and also receives data for a communication session with a User Equipment (UE) device. The RAN device identifies traffic characteristics for the communication session based on the traffic characterization model parameters. The traffic characteristics include a predicted level of periodicity for a future time interval. The RAN device selects a scheduling discipline for the communication session based on the projected level of periodicity for the future time interval, and implements the selected scheduling discipline for the communication session.

Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are described in which a frequency and network slice selection service is provided. The service may configure network slices at a cell level which may include carrier frequencies or bands that may be ranked in terms of preference for a network slice. The service may provide frequency/band-network slice information to end devices via system information block and radio resource control messages. End devices may perform a cell search procedure and use other criteria to select and establish a network slice connection via a frequency/band of a network slice and in accordance with the service.

Abstract: Systems and methods for radio beam management for a wireless network are described. An illustrative system includes a memory configured to store instructions and a processor configured to execute the instructions to determine that a user equipment (UE) device is located at a geographic location, determine a prioritization of beams associated with the geographic location, and direct the UE device to apply the prioritization of beams associated with the geographic location for beam scanning at the geographic location. The prioritization of beams may be generated based on historical beam signal strengths at the geographic location. In certain examples, an analytics engine applies a machine learning algorithm to generate the prioritization of beams based on inputs that include historical beam signal strengths reported by UE devices at the geographic location.

Abstract: Systems and methods described herein provide for coordination of inactivity procedures between wireless stations in a multi-RAT dual connectivity scenario. A wireless station identifies, for an end device, a multi-radio access technology (RAT) dual connectivity scenario with dedicated bearers and detects inactivity for a bearer using the master wireless station. In response to the detecting, the master wireless station sends, to a secondary wireless station, an inactivity status check for another bearer of the multi-RAT dual connectivity scenario. When a response to the inactivity status check is received from the secondary wireless station within a designated time window, the master wireless station waits for a release request from the secondary wireless station and initiates an inactivity procedure for the end device when the release request is received.
