Abstract:
A method includes generating a service discovery frame at a first electronic device of a data link of a neighbor aware network (NAN). The service discovery frame may include an attribute identifying a subset of electronic devices of the data link as recipients of data from the first electronic device during a transmission window or identifying a time period corresponding to data announcements and timing information of data transmissions corresponding to the data link. The method further includes transmitting the service discovery frame to electronic devices other than the first electronic device.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a technique for scheduling multiple peer-to-peer communications in a wireless network using an access point (AP). The existing power management framework for AP-based communications is utilized to achieve AP-based scheduling of peer-to-peer communications.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for communicating a compressed beacon are described herein. In some aspects, a method of communicating in a wireless network includes transmitting, at an access point, a full beacon at a first multiple of a beacon interval. The method further includes transmitting a compressed beacon at each beacon interval that is not the first multiple of the beacon interval. Another method of communicating in a wireless network includes receiving, at a wireless device, a full beacon at a first multiple of a beacon interval. The method further includes receiving a compressed beacon at a beacon interval that is not the first multiple of the beacon interval.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for optimization of synchronization message transmission intervals in a peer-to-peer network are described herein. In one aspect, a method for determining an optimized timing for synchronization messages is provided. The method includes receiving clock drift information from other devices on the peer-to-peer wireless communication network. This clock drift information may be used to determine the frequency with which new synchronization messages must be sent in order to keep synchronization error under a certain requirement at other devices, while minimizing the network traffic due to the transmissions of synchronization messages.
Abstract:
An 802.11ac access point (AP) may be capable of communicating with both 802.11n (on 40 MHz band) and 802.11ac devices (on 80 MHz band). While the 802.11ac AP is communicated with 802.11n devices on 40 MHz band, the remaining 40 MHz band is wasted because the 802.11n devices are not capable of communicating on this band. The AP may operate as if it is two virtual APs, one capable of communicating with 802.11n devices on a first primary and a first secondary channels (basic service set 1—BSS1) and the second communicating with 802.11ac devices on a second primary and a second secondary channels (BSS2). Individual beacons may be sent for BSS1 and BSS2. The transmissions on BSS2 may be performed simultaneously with transmissions on BSS1. However, transmission on one channel and receiving on the second channel cannot happen simultaneously.
Abstract:
A device may join an existing mesh network by authenticating with only one of a plurality of member devices of the existing mesh network. Once the device has successfully authenticated with the only one member device, the device may receive a common group key. The device may send a route request message encrypted with the common key to one or more of the plurality of member devices of the existing mesh network. In response, the device may receive one or more route reply messages encrypted with the common key from one or more of the plurality of member devices of the existing mesh network. The device may determine an optimal route to one or more provider member devices of the existing mesh network based on the received route reply messages.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for communicating in a wireless communication system are described. Various processes for reducing the initial link set up time are described. In one aspect a method in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes providing a network service configured to communicate via a plurality of channels. The method further includes determining a characteristic of the network service comprising a load value for each of the plurality of channels. The method further includes transmitting an identifier of the characteristic of the network service for obtaining the network service in the wireless communication system.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for integrating Bluetooth devices into neighbor aware networks are described herein. In some aspects, a method for wireless communication may comprise receiving at least one parameter indicating availability of a service associated with a first wireless protocol from a first wireless device configured to communicate according to the first wireless protocol. The method may further comprise encapsulating the at least one parameter into a service discovery frame associated with a second wireless protocol. The method may further comprise transmitting the service discovery frame to a second wireless device configured to communicate according to the second wireless protocol. The first wireless network comprises a Bluetooth protocol and the second wireless network comprises a WiFi protocol
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for communications via a mesh network. To join an existing mesh network, a wireless communication device may identify a member device from a plurality of member devices of an existing mesh network. The wireless communication device may communicate with the identified member device to participate in a single authentication procedure. Upon successfully completing the single authentication procedure, the wireless communication device may join the existing mesh network without needing any additional authentication procedures with another member device of the plurality of member devices to join the existing mesh network. This approach may be used for any mesh network, such as a social Wi-Fi mesh network.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and systems are described that implement techniques and protocols to enable a station to receive a neighbor query request from a first associated access point that is associated with the station. The station may wirelessly communicate a neighbor report of a second access point to the first access point while the station is unassociated with the second access point.
