摘要: A pneumatic bioreactor includes a vessel containing a fluid to be mixed and at least one mixing device driven by gas pressure. A first embodiment includes a floating impeller that rises and falls in the fluid as gas bubbles carry it upward to the surface where the gas is then vented, permitting the impeller to sink in the fluid. The floating impeller may be tethered to a second impeller with a flexible member and pulley. The mixing speed is controlled with electromagnets in the vessel acting upon magnetic material in the impeller or its guides. In another embodiment, floating pistons mix the fluid, pushing it through a mixing plate with one or more apertures. In a third embodiment, the mixing device is a rotating drum with bubble-catching blades and rotating mixing plates with apertures. The top of the vessel for these mixers may include a closed top and sterile filters.

摘要: In a method and system to extract data from handwritten information when the information is captured as sequences of strokes, vectors, or marks, temporal data is stored within the color or gray-scale encoding of pixel values within a bitmapped image. A bitmapped image is used to create a derived image suitable for data extraction and a method of analyzing the image, including the encoded temporal data, to yield an adjusted image that better reflects the intent of the person who created the handwriting. While the primary application of the invention is in processing handwritten responses to assessment items, the system and method can be advantageously used to extract data from or to improve the presentation of information from an electronic representation of temporal human marks in many applications. Additionally, the system and method can be advantageously used to store and process other types of data within a bitmapped image.

摘要: A system for controlling a flow of air applied to a gas turbine shroud in an airplane engine, the air flow being adjusted by a regulator valve of position that is controlled by a first control signal calculated on the basis of a first setpoint value corresponding to predetermined clearance between the rotor and the turbine shroud. The system further comprises means for calculating at least one second control signal based on a second setpoint value different from the first value representative of clearance in the turbine, and selector means for-selecting the second control signal to control the regulator valve in response to one or more engine parameters. With such a system, it is possible to control the air flow applied to the shroud in application of a plurality of control logic systems.

摘要: A turbomachine stator vane having a leading edge, a trailing edge, and pressure side and suction side faces, a first and a second series of a plurality of holes, calibrated emission holes, and a perforated open liner defining an annular cavity between an outside wall of the liner and an inside wall of the vane, an air opening for feeding cooling air to the inside of the liner, and an air exhaust opening for exhausting cooling air from the vane, the liner being secured to the vane at one end and being free at another end to slide along an inside edge of the vane under the effects of relative thermal expansion between the liner and the inside wall of the vane. The holes through the liner in the second series of holes are disposed to avoid any impact of the cooling air against the bridges of the vane.

摘要: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for identifying intended response marks in an optically scanned image of a response sheet having key marks and response targets printed in the same color. Pixel darkness values assigned by a digital imaging scanner are used to locate key marks and response targets and to identify response marks. Areas of the sheet may be selectively filtered to mask the response targets. Alternatively, a color imaging scanner may be used to produce a set of color values, such as RBG values, for each pixel. Software can act as a virtual filter by using the RBG values to detect or to mask a color in the image.
