Abstract: A door brace to prevent the opening of a door into a room or other area by an intruder includes an elongated tube that is terminated at each end by a door mounting flange and a floor mounting flange. The door mounting flange is configured to be slideably received within a bracket that is mounted to the door. The floor mounting flange includes an aperture for receiving a pin therethrough that is also received within an aperture that has been bored into the surface of the floor. Thus, when the door brace is mounted between the door and floor, the strength of the door is increased, thus preventing the door from being opened by the use of a large entry force applied to the door by an intruder seeking entry into the room or area.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a versatile and high performance zwitterionic CP platform, which integrates all desired functions into one material. This zwitterionic CP consists of the conducting backbone and multifunctional zwitterionic side chains. Non-conducting zwitterionic materials gain electronic conductivity through the conducting backbone and CPs obtain excellent biocompatibility, sensitivity to environmental stimuli and controllable antifouling properties via multifunctional zwitterionic side chains. Unique properties from two distinct materials (conducting materials and zwitterionic materials) are integrated into one material without sacrificing any properties. This platform can potentially be adapted for a range of applications (e.g. bioelectronics, tissue engineering, wound healing, robotic prostheses, biofuel cell, etc.), which all require high performance conducting materials with excellent antifouling/biocompatibility at complex biointerfaces. This conducting material platform will significantly advance the development of conducting polymers in the field of biomedicine and biotechnology.

Abstract: A tactile sensor includes a flexible medium having electrically conductive strips embedded therein and extending in a first direction, said electrically conductive strips including conductive nanostructures dispersed in a flexible support material, said nanostructures selected from conductive nanowires, carbon nanotubes, and graphene, wherein each electrically conductive strip is connected at each end to an impedance measuring device that measures the impedance across each electrically conductive strip. The electrically conductive strips may be formed on a first layer of the flexible medium by using direct-write technology.

Abstract: A lower extremity mobilizer for use in rehabilitation is provided. A seat is slidably maintained upon a base, with a foot support brace being provided at an end of the base to receive the foot of a leg provided for arthrokinematic treatment. A cord and pulley system is provided between the seat and the end of the base. In use, a patient is seated with a foot received by the foot support brace. The patient provides arthrokinematic motion to his leg by pulling himself and the seat toward the end of the device having the foot support brace. The procedure is undertaken in a closed chain motion, with the foot constantly engaging the foot support brace, and is done so as a rate, timing and extent under the control of the patient.

Abstract: Tethering stakes of the nature intended to be pounded flush with or below ground level. Certain of the tethering stakes include a cap on the pounding end which is adapted for ease of placement and release of a tethering line. Accordingly, the tethering line can be removed from the stake when it is to be pounded into the ground and then engaged with the stake only when tethering is desired. Certain of the embodiments include caps having uniquely shaped apertures for securing the tethering line. Another includes an aperture in communication with an aperture in the stake such that a lead cable or the like may be moved out of the way when the stake is pounded into the ground and may be fully received within the stake when tethering is not desired. Another embodiment employs a coupler passing through an aperture directly beneath the pounding surface to facilitate ease of attachment and removal of the tethering line.

Abstract: A tethering stake includes a rod having a point at one end thereof and a driving cap at an opposite end. A collar is fixed to the rod adjacent to and spaced from the driving cap, thus providing a neck to receive a tether line or chain. A cap cover is slidingly received upon the rod and is adapted to be selectively engaged with the collar. The cap cover includes a central circular aperture with a radial slot extending therefrom. The centrally positioned aperture and slot allow the cover to assume a position substantially parallel to the rod during shipment and storage, while allowing it to take a position substantially orthogonal to the rod when the rod is driven into the ground.

Abstract: In various embodiments, the present invention provides well-defined biodegradable poly(lactone-b-propylene fumarate) diblock and triblock polymers formed using a novel one-pot, scalable ring-opening block-order copolymerization (ROBOCOP) technique that utilizes magnesium 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenoxide (Mg(BHT)2(THF)2) to “switch” from the ROP of cyclic esters to the ROCOP of maleic anhydride (MAn) and propylene oxide (PO) to produce PPF based block copolymers for application in additive manufacturing and patient specific regenerative medicine. These block copolymers are fully resorbable and can be photochemically crosslinked in a number of applications, including 3D printing. By adding the lactone block to the PPF polymer, the viscosity of the resulting block copolymer at working temperatures can be precisely controlled and the quantity of the reactive diluent in printable resins can be reduced or eliminated.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an optical filter with nanostructured layers and spectral sensors with layers of such kind. The optical filter has at least two nanostructured layers, each of which forms a transmission grating from grating wires extending parallel to each other. The grating wires of the two transmission gratings intersect each other and are positioned one on top of the other in the optical filter. An optical polarise which polarises incident optical radiation linearly parallel to the grating wires of one of the two transmission gratings is arranged over the transmission gratings. The optical filter can be produced as a bandpass filter with standard semiconductor processes without additional layers or modification of said processes.
