Abstract: Techniques are described for performing beam sweep procedures as part of a device discovery procedure. A communication device may receive a discovery preamble as part of a device discovery procedure. The discovery preamble may include information indicating that a discovery message will be transmitted. The communication device may determine whether to monitor for the discovery message of the device discovery procedure based at least in part on receiving the discovery preamble. The communication device may monitor for the discovery message based at least in part on the determination.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to methods for wireless communication. A transmitting device transmits a first portion of a control message to a receiving device. The first portion includes information for decoding a second portion of the control message and for decoding data. The transmitting device then transmits the second portion to the receiving device, the second portion including additional information for decoding the data. Thereafter, the first device transmits the data to the receiving device. The receiving device receives the first portion and the second portion, and decodes the received second portion based on the information included in the first portion. The receiving device then receives the data from the second device if the received second portion is able to be decoded. The receiving device decodes the received data based on the information included in the first portion and the additional information included in the second portion.

A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) include receiving one or more data transmissions from one or more other UEs, generating a feedback signal for each of one or more data transmissions, determining a transmission power of the feedback signal for each of one or more data transmissions based on at least one configuration associated with the feedback signal, and transmitting the feedback signal to each of the one or more other UEs using the determined transmission power.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A device, which may be otherwise known as user equipment (UE) may support sidelink communications, for example, such as device-to-device (D2D) communications, vehicle-based communications, which may also be referred to as vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications, and the like. To mitigate or decrease collisions or other interference on resources (e.g., time and frequency resources) used by other UEs in sidelink communications, a UE may determine a blind retransmission of a packet, determine that the packet satisfies one or more conditions based in part on the blind retransmission, and transmit feedback signal relating to the blind retransmission of the packet.

Abstract: An apparatus for wireless communication of a UE determines to transmit data in a set of RBs to at least one other UE in at least one subframe. The at least one subframe includes a first subset of symbols configured for use for transmission collision avoidance signaling and a second subset of symbols configured for transmitting the data. The apparatus determines a subset of symbols of the first set of symbols within the set of RBs of the at least one subframe for transmitting at least one concatenated sequence. The apparatus transmits the at least one concatenated sequence in each symbol of the determined subset of symbols within the set of RBs of the at least one subframe to indicate that the data will be transmitted in the second set of symbols within the set of RBs of the at least one subframe.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for determining that synchronization for sidelink communication is based on a synchronization source type, and identifying a priority level for a sidelink transmission. The described techniques also include selecting a modified timing error requirement for the sidelink transmission based at least in part on determining that the synchronization source type is the synchronization source for sidelink communications, and the identified priority level, and sending the sidelink transmission using the modified timing error requirement. In some examples, a sidelink device may identify an MCS for sending the sidelink transmission, and may select the modified timing error requirement for the sidelink transmission based on the MCS. In some examples, a sidelink device may identify a required range for a sidelink transmission, and may select the modified timing error required for the sidelink transmission based on the required range.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to device-to-device (D2D) and, more particularly, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication in which an efficient ranging protocol allows efficient ranging-assisted vehicle positioning. A vehicle transmits a first slot ID in a first control period, to indicate a first time slot for transmitting a first ranging signal in a ranging cycle including a plurality of time slots. The vehicle transmits the first ranging signal in the first time slot in the ranging cycle. From a second vehicle, the first vehicle receives a second ranging signal in a second time slot that is different from the first time slot in the ranging cycle. The first vehicle determines a first time-of-arrival (ToA) of the second ranging signal when received by the first vehicle, and transmits the first ToA in a second control period.
