Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encored on computer storage media, for fifth generation (5G)-new radio (NR) physical layer (PHY) timing synchronization. In one aspect, a user equipment (UE) computing device may determine a new timing advance (TA) between downlink frames and uplink frames (NTA_new) for a base station (BS) and determine whether the NTA_new may be within a timing advance acceptable range. In another aspect, a BS may determine a timing advance command (TA) for a timing advance group (TAG) for the BS, and send the TA to the UE computing device. In determining the timing advance command, the TA may be configured by the BS to cause the UE computing device to determine that a new timing advance between downlink frames and uplink frames (NTA_new) for the BS using the TA is within a timing advance acceptable range.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for enhanced transmission time interval (TTI) bundling design for machine type communications (MTC). A method for wireless communications by a wireless device is provided. The method generally includes determining a mapping of one or more uplink or downlink channels to one or more fixed bundling sizes, wherein each of the one or more fixed bundling sizes indicates a number of transmission time intervals (TTIs) over which a channel should be transmitted and processing transmission of the one or more uplink or downlink channels based on the mapping.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications, and more specifically to increased diversity for devices with limited communications resources. An example method generally includes transmitting data as a bundled transmission to a device with limited communications resources, the bundled transmission comprising multiple bursts wherein each burst spans a plurality of transmission time intervals (TTIs) and the same data is transmitted in each burst, and taking action to increase diversity (e.g., at least one of spatial diversity, time diversity, frequency diversity, etc.) for the bundled transmission.

PUNCTURING INDICATOR OF A PORTION OF A REFERENCE SIGNAL WITHIN AN UNPUNCTURED PORTION OF THE REFERENCE SIGNAL

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques related to wireless communication system in which a network node (e.g., a base station, gNB, etc.) may be allowed to puncture a reference signal (RS) to deliver high priority data (e.g., URLLC data) to a user equipment (UE) that is not currently being served by the network node. The RS may comprise a puncturable subset and an unpuncturable subset. The puncturable subset may comprise resources of the RS that are allowed to be punctured, and the unpuncturable subset may comprise resources of the RS that are prohibited from being punctured. The network node may transmit the RS such that unpuncturable subset indicates whether or not the puncturable subset of the RS has or has not been punctured. In this way, the network node can quickly inform whether or not the RS has been punctured to carry high priority data.
