    摘要: A serial intelligent cell (SIC) and a connection topology for local area networks using Electrically-conducting media. A local area network can be configured from a plurality of SIC's interconnected so that all communications between two adjacent SIC's is both point-to-point and bidirectional. Each SIC can be connected to one or more other SIC's to allow redundant communication paths. Communications in different areas of a SIC network are independent of one another, so that, unlike current bus topology and star topology, there is no fundamental limit on the size or extent of a SIC network. Each SIC can optionally be connected to one or more data terminals, computers, telephones, sensors, actuators, etc., to facilitate interconnectivity among such devices. Networks according to the present invention can be configured for a variety of applications, including a local telephone system, remote computer bus extender, multiplexers, PABX/PBX functionality, security systems, and local broadcasting services. The network can use dedicated wiring, as well as existing wiring as the in-house telephone or electrical wiring.

    摘要: A group scheduling method, a method for selectively receiving information elements according to group scheduling, and a Mobile Station (MS) are provided. The group scheduling method schedules allocation of resources to a plurality of mobile stations by dividing the plurality of mobile stations into at least one group. The group scheduling method includes enabling an index element in a group index corresponding to a group to which a mobile station (MS) scheduled to transmit data belongs and placing a group allocation information element including the group index at the beginning of a MAP. In this method, group scheduling information is transmitted to MSs using a group allocation IE to prevent the MSs from reading unnecessary information transmitted every frame, thereby reducing power consumption of the MSs.

    摘要: Networked modems configurable to establish a communication system on a wired communication medium. Each modem includes: a network module, transmit and receive path modules and a frequency domain echo canceller. The network module is configured to communicate with network modules of remaining ones of the at least three modems to allocate bandwidth of the shared communications medium for at least two discrete point-to-point communication links between corresponding pairs of the at least three modems. The transmit and receive path modules are configured for multi-tone modulation and demodulation of communications on the wired communication medium and are responsive to the bandwidth allocation of the network module to concurrently process at least a first discrete point-to-point communication link with a first modem among remaining ones of the at least three modems and at least a second discrete point-to-point communication link with a second among remaining ones of the at least three modems. The frequency domain echo canceller is configured to substantially cancel leakage of the communications transmitted on the transmit path into the receive path and to enable each point-to-point communication link to support full duplex communications.

Each vector symbol includes a plurality of modulation symbols that are each associated with a transmission layer over which the associated modulation symbol will be transmitted. Generating the plurality of vector symbols includes interleaving bits of the one or more control codewords and bits of the one or more user data codewords so that the first type of control information is carried in modulation symbols associated with the same transmission layers in all the vector symbols transmitted during the subframe that carry the first type of control information. The method also includes transmitting the plurality of vector symbols to a receiver over a plurality of transmission layers.

Various features may be implemented to provide any or all of several degrees of freedom for managing resources in a communication network. Communication rates may be optimized on a node-to-node basis or overall on a network level. Different rates may be configured and possibly dynamically adjusted between different nodes, and/or for different directions of traffic transfer. Bandwidth can be dynamically allocated along a string of the communication nodes in a ring or linear topology in some embodiments. Direction of traffic transfer represents an additional possible degree of freedom in a ring topology, in that traffic can be transferred in either direction in a ring, such as the direction of least delay.
