    摘要: A latency reduction system in a virtual bass processing system performs harmonic transposition on low frequency components of an audio signal to generate transposed data indicative of harmonics of the audio signal. The system uses a base transposition factor greater than two, and generates the harmonics in response to frequency-domain values determined by forward and inverse transform stages that use asymmetric analysis and synthesis windows. The system combines a virtual bass signal with the delayed wide band audio signal through analysis filter banks having filter coefficient truncated Nyquist filters. The virtual bass signal may lag the delayed wide band audio signal when combining with the audio signal to further reduce the latency caused by the harmonic transposition. The virtual bass input signal may be directly routed from a CQMF analysis filter bank of a preceding Hybrid filter bank stage, in order to avoid the delay associated with a Nyquist filter bank.

    摘要: An amplifier circuit for providing a combined clean and dirty output signal from an electric guitar. The circuit comprises a panning pedal that has two potentiometers attached thereto so that movement of the panning pedal results in two continuously varying ranges of resistances being produced by the potentiometers. The output signal of the guitar is provided to the panning pedal and the resistance values of the potentiometers determine the proportion of the guitar output signal that is to be provided to a clean pre-amp stage and the proportion that is to be provided to a dirty pre-amp stage. The clean pre-amp stage amplifies the output signal substantially without distortion and the dirty pre-amp stage amplifies the signal so as to produce a saturated output signal. The output of the clean pre-amp stage and the dirty pre-amp stage are then combined to produce a single output signal. By changing the position of the panning pedal, the proportion between the dirty and clean signals in the single output signal can be continuously varied of a range of proportions.

    摘要: A digital audio signal processor for adding harmonic content to an input audio signal through a non-linear transfer function with discontinuities. The discontinuities are generated by bit shifting each input value by an amount dependent on the sign and magnitude of the input value. The amount by which the input value is shifted is roughly inversely related to the magnitude of the logarithm of the input value. The transfer function is fractal and so provides increased harmonic content for all signal amplitudes.

    摘要: A music synthesizer includes main resonator, such as a digital waveguide network, that is coupled to a digital passive nonlinear filter. The passive nonlinear filter receives traveling wave signals from the resonator and generates modified traveling wave signals having a different frequency spectrum than the received traveling wave signals without changing the received traveling wave signals' energy content. The passive nonlinear filter then transmits the modified traveling wave signals back into the resonator. The passive nonlinear filter includes a first memory element for retaining an internal energy state and a dual-mode signal generator that generates the modified traveling wave signal from the received signals and the internal energy state using a first signal processing method when the internal energy state has a negative value and using a second distinct signal processing method when the internal energy state has a positive value. The dual-mode signal generator preferably includes a two-level amplifier that multiplies the internal energy state by a first coefficient when the internal energy state has a negative value and by a second distinct coefficient when the internal energy state has a positive value so as to generate an adjustment signal. A first signal combiner combines the received signals with the adjustment signal so as to generate a next value of the internal energy state, and a second signal combiner combines the adjustment signal and the retained internal energy state to generate the modified traveling wave signal that is transmitted into the resonator.

A mixer is provided for combining musical output of the practice instrument with musical output generated by the computer corresponding to the selected musical piece.
