摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a main body and a replaceable component. The main body includes a first storage unit storing first authentication informations for authentication with the replaceable component, a data storage unit storing authentication data for choosing the first authentication information. The replaceable component includes a second storage unit storing second authentication informations corresponding to the first authentication information. Authentication data is set to be different among different image forming apparatuses. The main body attempts authentication with the replaceable component using the first authentication information chosen based on the authentication data. When the second authentication information corresponding to the chosen first authentication information is stored, a control unit establishes connection between communication units of the main body and the replaceable component.

摘要: Directional data representing a pattern which indicates a growing direction of a dot on a scanning line is generated. Coefficients used to distribute the image data of a pixel of interest are set. An edge of an input image is detected. The image data of the interest pixel of the input image is distributed to the interest pixel and a pixel adjacent to the interest pixel based on the coefficients. Image data distributed from the adjacent pixel is added to image data of the interest pixel on which the distribution is performed, and the sum of the image data is as corrected image data of the interest pixel. The corrected image data and the generated directional data are selected for an edge, and the image data of the interest pixel and input directional data are selected for a non-edge to generate an image signal pulse-width modulated.

摘要: An image forming device is provided which is capable of printing paper fingerprint data encoded into code data on a paper sheet without inducing significant degradation of printing performance due to the slowing of the printing speed. In order to halt paper sheet transport until the processing of sending composite image data, including paper fingerprint data, to a printer has completed, a control component issues to a paper sheet transport control component instructions to halt paper sheet transport temporarily after the scanning of paper fingerprint. The paper sheet transport control component halts paper sheet transport after receiving these instructions. Subsequently, when composite image data is sent to the printer and is ready to be printed on the paper sheet, the control component issues to the paper sheet transport control component instructions to resume paper sheet transport. The paper sheet transport control component resumes paper sheet transport after receiving these instructions.

摘要: An optical scanning device 65 is adapted to bring a deflector mirror plane 651 into independent pivotal motions about a first axis and a second axis perpendicular to each other. A mirror driver section including a first axis driver and a second axis driver is so controlled as to bring the deflector mirror plane 651 into pivotal motion about the first axis thereby deflecting a light beam L for scanning along a main scan direction. On the other hand, the deflector mirror plane 651 is pivotally moved about the second axis thereby to adjust the scanned beam L for its position on a photosensitive member 2 with respect to a subscan direction. Thus, even if the scanned beam is deviated from a reference scan position with respect to the subscan direction due to component tolerances or assembly errors, such a deviation can be corrected.

摘要: A method for providing color correction to a color marking engine for halftone and contone images includes the step of first generating a test pattern. This test pattern has a plurality of discrete images disposed thereon with the discrete images having characteristics that are correlated with parameters of the print job. In one mode, they relate to halftone images that have differing densities of dots, each less than 100% density. The images are correlated to different bit values for the same densities such that the maximum density value for the pixel is offset for different images. A user then views the different images and determine which one is closest to a true gray and then selects the offset bit value for that image as the marking engine offset. This can then be applied to that particular marking engine. This can be utilized for a plurality of marking engines (651) with a single RIP (650). For dot linearization, the images will have different bit density values such that a curve can be made for actual verses requested density. A linearization curve can be defined for each of the plurality of the marking engines (650) in a versatile engine and then these linearization curves averaged. This averaged linearization curve is then applied to the RIP (650).

摘要: In a case of forming a color image by superimposing a plurality of colors of plane images, the plurality of colors of plane images are superimposed such that positions of these images are not displaced or aberrated irrespective of influence by a change in time, thereby resultingly forming a high-quality color image. Especially, in consideration of image data supplying from an external apparatus, the load on an image formation apparatus is reduced. In order to achieve such effects, there is provided an electronic apparatus comprising a transmission means for transmitting, to the external apparatus which visibly outputs the color image by superimposing the plurality of colors of plane images, image data corresponding to the plurality of colors of plane images, a reception means for receiving information representing extent of a positional displacement occurring in superimposing the plurality of colors of plane images in the external apparatus, and a control means for controlling timing of the transmitting of the image data corresponding to the plurality of colors of plane images by the transmission means, on the basis of the information received by the reception means.
