    摘要: An audio instrument includes a component assembly, a pan-tilt mechanism, and one or more processors. The component assembly includes a parabolic reflector, an audio device, and a sensor unit. The audio device is configured to one or more of receive or transmit sound waves via a transducer element disposed within a communication envelope of the parabolic reflector. The sensor unit includes a distance measurement sensor. The pan-tilt mechanism orients the component assembly at independent angular rotations about two orthogonal axes relative to a support platform. The one or more processors are configured to control the pan-tilt mechanism to orient the component assembly such that a central axis of the parabolic reflector is aimed towards a specific three-dimensional location for targeted audio communication between the audio device and a target at the specific three-dimensional location.

    摘要: An aspect of the invention is directed to a system of both atmospheric and underwater sensors for measuring pressure waves from a noise source. A system of pressure sensors can be formed to determine the location of an external noise source, whether in air or underwater. The system includes at least two arrays consisting of pressure sensors, including at least one atmospheric pressure sensor and at least one underwater pressure sensor, such as a hydrophone. Each sensor may be a seven-fiber intensity modulated fiber optic pressure sensor. The system includes an analog to digital converter for digitizing the pressure data received from each sensor and a processor which processes the received signals to calculate an approximate location of the noise source based upon the pressure signals received by the sensors at different times of arrival. The system can provide this capability in remote applications due to its low power requirements.

    摘要: A wireless transmitting/receiving system includes a transmitter, a first directional receiver, a camera, a storage device and a processor. The transmitter is disposed on a target object and transmits a wireless signal. The first directional receiver is disposed with respect to an entry/exit boundary. The first directional receiver receives the wireless signal and generates a first received signal strength indication. The camera captures an image of the entry/exit boundary. The storage device stores a mapping table of target object location and received signal strength. The processor is electrically connected to the storage device and determines a location of the target object and a moving direction of the target object with respect to the entry/exit boundary according to the image and the mapping table of target object location and received signal strength.

    摘要: Provided is a method for estimating a signal generation position based on signal strength, including: measuring a first signal strength which is a strength of a signal propagated from a generation position of the signal at a first measurement point; measuring a second signal strength which is a strength of the signal propagated from the generation position of the signal at a second measurement point distinguished from the first measurement point; calculating an attenuation constant of a medium to which the signal is propagated from the generation position up to the first measurement point and the second measurement point; and estimating the generation position by using the first signal strength, the second signal strength, and the attenuation constant, wherein the first measurement point, the second measurement point, and the generation position are present on one straight line. This method can be extended to estimate a signal generation point in 2D plane or 3D space.

    摘要: A direction controllable lighting unit 10 for use in a lighting system is described. The light emission of the lighting unit 10 may be directed into different directions, e.g. by use of a mechanically movable element 14, 60. At least two ultrasound transmitters 20a, 20b, or ultrasound receivers 21a, 21b are disposed at the lighting unit 10 such that they differ in position, or in direction or shape of the spatial intensity distribution or spatial distribution of reception sensitivity. A mobile control element 46 has at least one corresponding ultrasound transmitter or receiver 50. A difference bebveen a signal from a transmitter received at multiple receivers, or a signal of multiple transmitters received at a single receiver is used to determine a relative direction of the direction controllable lighting unit 10 and the control element 46, and to control the direction of the lighting unit 10 in dependence thereof.

    摘要: A torpedo seeker head for providing guidance information in three orthogonal axes is provided according to the invention. The torpedo seeker head includes three directional hydrophones, with each directional hydrophone capable of receiving an acoustic signal and generating a signal output therefrom. The three directional hydrophones are aligned with their response axes oriented substantially orthogonally, with any two directional hydrophones and respective axes defining a plane. An omni-directional hydrophone is also provided which measures a phase of a received acoustic signal. The signal outputs from the any two directional hydrophones, in conjunction with the phase from the omni-directional hydrophone are used to calculate a look angle to a target in a plane defined by the any two hydrophones, with the measurement being substantially independent of frequency. The three directional hydrophones yield look angles in three dimensions. The torpedo seeker head utilizes this information to provide guidance information to the torpedo.
