    摘要: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for taking pressure measurements are provided. A multi-hole pressure sensor probe can include a probe tip having a plurality of probe tip holes. The probe tip holes can lead to probe tip channels that convey fluid from the measurement environment to pressure transducers. The pressure transducers can operate using optical transduction techniques. A light source can be applied to the diaphragm, and the light reflected from the diaphragm changes as the position of the diaphragm changes. Further, a reflective material can be applied on the backside of the diaphragm to increase its reflective properties. The light can then be collected and analyzed using a photodiode to determine the environmental pressure acting on the different holes of the probe.

    摘要: The invention relates to optical devices for measuring pressure or force, comprising an electromagnetic radiation source, and a pressure membrane or a spiral spring which has a surface that at least partially reflects the electromagnetic rays of the electromagnetic radiation source. The inventive devices are especially characterized in that they allow, inter alia, measurement of even the slightest pressure changes of fluids and other flowable materials in the stationary and/or flowing state or even the slightest mechanical deformations on spiral springs. In order to do this, the rays of an electromagnetic radiation source are incident on the at least partially reflective surface of the pressure membrane or spiral spring. At least one section of a stationarily located body or of a stationarily located body having a reflective layer is disposed in the path of the reflected rays, upstream of a photodetector for said rays, and projects into said rays. A mechanical modification causes the reflected rays to be absorbed, diffracted, reflected again and/or split to a higher or lesser extent by the body.

    摘要: A cup shaped diaphragm having varying thicknesses reduces stress on the diaphragm and increases reliability of a fiber optic diaphragm sensor. The hermetic seal between the optical fiber and the ferrule body is removed from proximity of the diaphragm and is located near the opposite end of the ferrule. The effects on the ferrule of overpressure on the diaphragm are controlled by angling a portion of the ferrule tip adjacent the diaphragm. A method of sealing and locating the optical fiber to the ferrule of the sensor is described.

    摘要: The modulation depth of a fiber optic diaphragm sensor is increased by tapering the tip end of the optical fiber or fiber bundle. In a second embodiment, the modulation depth is increased by mechanically leveraging the diaphragm movement relative to the tip end of the optical fiber or fiber bundle. In either embodiment, the operating temperature of the tip end of the optical fiber or fiber bundle can be reduced relative to the operating temperature of the diaphragm. Thus, the diaphragm sensor can be directly exposed to combustion temperatures in an internal combustion engine and advantageously the sensor can be embodied in a spark plug adjacent the electrodes.

The optical fiber thermometer includes a black body emitter disposed inside the cylinder which is heated by combustion gases to provide an optical output. The optical output is converted to an electrical signal whose fourier components are analyzed to determine whether a knock condition exists.

    摘要: A single complex calculation for locating a dominant frequency, such as an interfering signal in a frequency range, is replaced by several much easier ones. A signal is analyzed over a first frequency range to locate at least one comparatively significant frequency component therein. This can involve analyzing, using electronic hardware, a test range of frequencies to identify a potentially significant component within the test range; and determining, using electronic hardware, if a condition for finishing the analysis has been met. If the condition has not been met, the test range is modified as a result of the analysis and the operations of analyzing and determining are repeated.

    摘要: The invention relates to an optical sensor for detecting light emission in combustion processes in a combustion chamber. At least one lens of the sensor faces the combustion chamber and is disposed on the tip of the sensor. The inventive sensor is provided with a heating device, which is disposed on the tip thereof, in the region of the front lens. The heating device can be a wire coil, a laser or a conduit with heated fluid. The sensor can include a controller for controlling the temperature of the heating device so that the tip of the sensor can be heated by the heating device to a specific temperature at which any soot on the front lens is combusted. As a result, the sensor remains clean and operational during the entire measuring period as desired.

    摘要: A sensor assembly includes a stainless steel tubular housing. Within the housing is a polyetheretherketone tube and a sensor. An optical fiber joins the sensor to a transmission cable and is fixedly positioned within the tube.
