    摘要: A system and method for transferring heat requires a supply tube connected in fluid communication with a capillary tube. A tip member is positioned to surround the distal end of the capillary tube to create a cryo-chamber. In operation, a liquid refrigerant is introduced into the supply tube at a working pressure (e.g. 450 psia). The pressure is then significantly reduced on the liquid refrigerant as it transits through the capillary tube. The refrigerant then exits the distal end of the capillary tube, still in its liquid state. Inside the cryo-chamber, at a pressure of less than about one atmosphere, the refrigerant transitions into its gaseous state. The resultant refrigeration causes heat to transfer into the cryo-chamber.

    摘要: A body heating/cooling apparatus includes a vest having a front panel and a back panel defining a cavity therebetween. A flexible, continuous channel is disposed in serpentine fashion throughout the cavity and has adjacent portions. An inlet and an outlet are provided for infusing a fluid into the channel and for withdrawing the fluid from the channel. The adjacent portions of the channel are placed in fluid communication by passageways extending between corresponding adjacent portions at locations intermediate the ends of the adjacent portions. The passageways are configured with respect to the corresponding adjacent portions such that substantially all of a fluid flowing through the corresponding adjacent portions normally bypasses the passageways. The passageways are configured with respect to the corresponding adjacent portions such that if one of the corresponding adjacent portions suffers a constriction, fluid will enter a connected one of the passageways to flow from one corresponding adjacent portion to another so as to bypass the constriction.

    摘要: A cryopump-type water-vapor removal system comprising a vacuum chamber for location within a device-fabrication cleanroom or other similar fabrication area, and a Meissner-type cryocoil for condensation of atmospheric water vapor in the atmosphere inside the chamber. A refrigerant compressor-evaporator is for location outside the device-fabrication cleanroom and is separated from the cryocoil by at least twenty feet. A refrigerant umbilical cord connects between and includes a flexible outer sheath providing for maintaining a thermal-insulation vacuum within. Flexible smooth-bore refrigerant suction and discharge tubes are disposed in the thermal-insulation vacuum of the umbilical. The suction tube has a larger diameter than the discharge to provide for an expansion of the refrigerant that occurs in the cryocoil. Non-turbulent flow through the suction and discharge tubes in the refrigerant umbilical cord may be controlled by use of a smooth-bore wall. Inside-to-outside thermal conduction may be controlled by disposing the suction and discharge tubes inside the thermal-insulation vacuum and reflective aluminized MYLAR (super insulation).

    摘要: An air conditioner has a refrigeration circuit formed by sequentially connecting a compressor 1, a condenser 2, an electronic expansion valve 4 and an evaporator 7 by pipes (6, 10). A compressor bypass pipe 12 is provided to connect an outlet of the evaporator 7 with an inlet of the condenser 2. A first on-off valve 11 is located in the bypass pipe 12. The air conditioner is controlled to switch to either a forced circulation operation or a natural circulation operation. In the forced circulation operation, the first on-off valve 11 is closed, the expansion valve 4 is opened to a first degree to allow refrigerant to pass therethrough, and the compressor 1 is operated in a running state. In the natural circulation operation, the first on-off valve 11 is opened, the expansion valve 4 is opened to a second degree, different from the first degree, to allow refrigerant to pass therethrough, and the compressor 1 is stopped.

The assembly includes an outer channel separated from the inner channel by insulation. Refrigeration coils are in thermal conduction with the inner channel to cool food kept within the food pans. A cold air plenum with outlet vents extends along the inner channel to blow cold air between the food pans. Fan arrangements draw cold air through louvers from within the inner channel and direct the cold air into the plenum. An upper refrigeration coil provides additional cooling to the top surface of food in the food pans, and a warming coil prevents the rim or lip of the outer channel from accumulating frost.
