Abstract:
A hollow tile with independent means permitting its attachment to the usual battens and means of mutual attachment which keep said tiles from being raised by the action of the wind, and which do so with no exterior fixation device such as nails and the like.
Abstract:
A method of forming an asphalt mixture includes mixing a polyol with a bio-source material to form a bio-asphalt. The method can further include mixing the bio-asphalt with a bitumen source different from the bio-asphalt to form an asphalt mixture. The bio-source material can include an oil, such as a vegetable oil, an animal fat, or any combination thereof. The bitumen source can include a petroleum-based asphalt. The method can further include adding a modifier, such as a fatty acid, a polycarboxylic acid, a polyacrylic acid, a polyacrylate comprising a copolymer, or any combination thereof. Moreover, a roofing grade asphalt mixture includes a bio-asphalt. The bio-asphalt includes an alkyd, wherein the alkyd is a reaction product of a polyol and a bio-source material. The roofing grade asphalt mixture further includes a bitumen source material and particles.
Abstract:
A synthetic roofing tile or panel is provided that includes one or more features enhancing the impact resistance and other desirable properties as well as the ease of installation and/or use of the roofing tile or panel on a building structure. The roofing tile is formed in an improved color variation process is provided with regard to the manufacture of a synthetic material roofing tile in order to effectively simulate the appearance of the natural material represented by the synthetic roofing tile. The roofing tile also can be compression molded such as in a method for manufacturing a synthetic roofing tile or panel is provide in which a number of inserts representing the desired appearance for the roofing tile or panel can be utilized in the manufacturing process to provide roofing tiles or panels with the desired appearance. The inserts can be interchanged within the molds in order to provide different appearances to roofing tiles or panels formed using the same molds.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a surface coverings system for a surface such as a roof, a floor or another substantially flat surface subjected to water and needs drainage, and methods for preparing such a system. The surface covering system comprises a rectangular plate with a mark marking a highest point, a substantially flat lower surface and an upper surface with a first slope facing from the mark towards a second mark provided in connection to the outer edge of the plate. The first slope is circular and has a linear radial inclination (α) facing from the mark towards essentially all points on the rectangular plate. The slope forms an elevation in the plate forming at least a part of a cone or blunt cone with the tip of the cone defined by the mark with the lowest point(s) of the upper surface of the disc defined by the second mark.
Abstract:
The present invention includes a material and method of installing a construction material for dry or arid climates, comprising: a growth media comprising an abiotic porous material and activated charcoal such as biochar; and at least one of a compost, grain hulls and nut shells, wherein plants in the material are able to survive without exogenous water for use in areas comprising at least one of Aw, BS, BW, Csa, Csb, Ds or Dw climates according to the Koppen-Geiger climate classification.
Abstract:
A cladding system for roof covering with pattern of the covering mantle of three-dimensional effect and laminated bituminous tile, in which the roof covering is obtained for each course, combining laterally and overlapping the lip of at least the band or the fret of each tile contiguous the course of upstream tiles is superimposed to the course of downstream tiles so that the area of exposure is greater than 55% of the total area of each laminated bituminous tile and wherein the laminated bituminous tile is composed of two composite layers coupled and overlapping staggered in the longitudinal direction, respectively, a band and a decorative fret, the first and second layers coupled so as to be staggered with respect to the longitudinal direction of the laminated bituminous tile obtaining for each head an out edging lip, respectively a fret lip on one side, a band lip on the other.
Abstract:
A panel for the construction of roofing is described, which includes two substantially opposite surfaces and a plurality of elongated recesses formed on at least one of the two opposite surfaces of the panel. The panel is made of a thermoplastic material, preferably polycarbonate. Moreover, a roofing arrangement for structures formed by means of one or more panels is described, wherein the surface of the panel which includes the plurality of elongated recesses forms the inner surface of the roofing arrangement. The panel is particularly useful for the construction of roofing arrangements for structures designed for plant cultivation and/or plant protection, such as greenhouses, nurseries, covered gardens, and the like.
Abstract:
A polymer siding panel for mounting on a wall surface that in one embodiment includes at least two horizontal adjacent sections and a plurality of decorative elements integrally formed with the said panel and disposed in at least one row. The panel may also include an upwardly facing channel formed on a rear side of the siding panel opposite the front face; and at least two splicing members. The splicing members may be transparent or translucent and manufactured from a polymer that is the same or different than the polymer of the siding panel, and one of the splicing members may be welded to and joining the sections to one another. The other splicing member can be welded to one of the sections at a side edge opposite the side edge adjoining the other section. The other splicing member may extend beyond the respective side edge.
