摘要： This invention relates to the use of low temperature plasma technology for significantly improved corrosion protection of steel. The plasma process involves pretreating of the steel surfaces by oxygen plasma and thin film deposition by polymerization of certain precursors on the steel. The process utilizes DC power, substrates as the cathode, magentron anodes, and system pressures of 0.01-0.5 torr. After the thin film plasma deposition it is also preferably to put a primer coating over the thin film.

摘要： A process for improving the adhesion of polymeric substances containing organic groups or composed of such groups to the surfaces of alkaline earth metal carbonates, which comprises applying an organic aprotic solvent solution containing at least one organosilicon compound having fluorine bonded directly to silicon and an average of not more than 1.8 SiC-bonded organic radicals per silicon atom to the surface of alkaline earth metal carbonates and removing the solvent before a polymeric substance containing organic groups is applied to the pretreated alkaline earth metal carbonate surface.

摘要： A liquid coating composition for forming a silica-based coating film on the surface of a substrate such as a semiconductor silicon wafer. A partial hydrolysis product of an alkoxy silane and an alkoxy or phenoxy compound of pentavalent antimony are dissolved in an organic solvent. As compared with a trivalent antimony compound used in the prior art, the pentavalent antimony compound as an additive is very effective in respect of the improvements in the uniformity and increased thickness of the silica-based coating film prepared from the coating composition as well as storage stability of the coating composition over time.

摘要： Compositions for protecting materials from growth of pestiferous organisms, and particularly for protecting marine surfaces from fouling organisms, are formed from precursors having the formula ##STR1## where m is from 1 to about 10, where each X is independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl and alkoxyalkyl radicals containing less than about 6 carbon atoms and Y, where Y has the formula ##STR2## where R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl, cycloalkyl, and aryl radicals, where R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 contain in combination up to about 18 carbon atoms. The ratio of the tin atoms to silicon atoms in the precursors is at least about 1:50. The precursors can be directly used as an additive for coatings. The precursors can also be used by subjecting them to hydrolysis and polycondensation to form an organotin substituted polysiloxane for use as an additive and a binder for coatings.

摘要： A surface-treating paint for shaped plastic articles, said paint being the reaction product of(1) 50 to 95 mole % of an epoxyalkylalkoxysilane of the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a divalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 represent a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Q represents a glycidoxy or epoxycyclohexyl group, and m is 0 or 1, and(2) 50 to 5 mole % of a fluorinated alcohol of the general formulaH--CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2).sub.p CH.sub.2 OH (II) wherein p is an integer of 1 to 7.The paint may further contain 50 to 5% by weight of the reaction product of (a) 80 to 30 mole % of an epoxyalkylalkoxysilane of general formula (I) with (b) 20 to 70 mole % of an aminoalkylalkoxysilane of the general formula ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are as defined with regard to general formula (I), Z represents a hydrogen atom or an aminoalkyl group, and n is 0 or 1, or a partially hydrolyzed product of the reaction product.
