    Abstract: The present invention includes consolidated hard materials, methods for producing them, and industrial drilling and cutting applications for them. A consolidated hard material may be produced using hard particles such as B4C or carbides or borides of W, Ti, Mo, Nb, V, Hf, Ta, Zr, and Cr in combination with an iron-based, nickel-based, nickel and iron-based, iron and cobalt-based, aluminum-based, copper-based, magnesium-based, or titanium-based alloy for the binder material.     Abstract: A drill in which no positional shift on a drilled hole and no irregularities on an internal wall are formed. A torsion angle of a shaving discharge groove of a drill is set in the range of 30 degrees to 50 degrees. In this manner, a positional shift of a through hole to be drilled can be reduced. In addition, shavings of the drill are properly discharged, and thus, drilling is not precluded by the shavings. Therefore, a printed wiring board having excellent electric connectivity and reliability can be obtained.

    Abstract: A precision cemented carbide threading tap is designed for use in precision tool holders in synchronous high speed tapping. The precision tap includes a fully cylindrical shank without the aid of squares, flats or other notches. The precision tap further includes a threaded body portion and a threaded cutting chamfer portion. The threaded body portion and the threaded cutting chamfer portion of the precision tap are concentric to the cylindrical shank of the tap within a runout of 10 microns.
