Abstract:
A drainage system for separating oil and debris from water run-off wherein a chamber in the path of flow of the run-off includes a downwardly inclined screen and a debris-collecting fence beneath the screen to maintain separation between the debris and water; and an organic absorber may be positioned in the path of flow of the water beneath the screen to remove organic oils from the run-off.
Abstract:
A self-cleaning flooring system is provided that includes at least one module. The module comprises a drain pan, a plurality of discharge ports, and at least one side wall. The drain may have a ramp and a drain outlet. The ramp may slope downward towards the drain outlet. The discharge ports may be disposed about a periphery of the drain pan and may be directed towards the drain outlet to direct flushing fluid towards the drain outlet. The side wall may circumscribe a portion of the periphery of the drain pan and include a hollow passage and at least one fluid inlet. The fluid inlet may be in fluid communication with the hollow passage for delivering flushing fluid to the discharge ports.
Abstract:
A device installed at a ditch on a road for preventing a backflow of sewage and a malodor is provided. The device includes a frame portion comprising a plurality of frames arranged in parallel with each other, a valve portion being opened or closed in a manner of a lever according to the weight of a flow of the sewage, and a cover portion for covering the frame portion and the valve portion. The cover portion includes flat drain holes formed in plural lines which are arranged in parallel with each other; flow velocity resistance embossings protruding upwardly with a predetermined height in a bar shape; inclined drain holes formed at both ends of the lengthwise direction and inclined upwardly; and a plurality of sliding prevention embossings protruding upwardly from an upper surface of the cover portion, for preventing walkers from sliding thereon.
Abstract:
A planting system for regulating the supply of water to a plant comprises a linear (28) for containing a volume of plant growing medium (30), such as soil, and drainage means adapted to drain water from the plant growing medium (30) contained within the liner (28) and convey the drained water to a desired location. A paving system (10) comprises a permeable layer (12) providing an upper surface; at least one supporting substrate layer (20) thereunder which is permeable to liquid, a containment membrane (28) of impermeable material containing said substrate layer (20) for controlled retention of water therein and duct means for allowing the passage of water from the substrate layer (20) to a plant growing medium (30).
Abstract:
A roadway surface drain provided with a grating to detain trash but pass water, a hinged closure plate beneath said grating to close the opening in which said grating is fitted, and linkage to tilt said closure plate to open said opening when the rate of water flow is sufficient, while permitting flow of water and detaining trash when the rate of flow is acceptably slow.
Abstract:
A paving block and a paving block assembly include a prism-shaped paving block body having a top surface, a bottom surface disposed opposite the top surface and a first pair of opposing side walls and a second pair of opposing side walls. The first and second pair of opposing side walls are disposed between the top and bottom surfaces with respective ones of the first pair of opposing side walls and the second pair of opposing side walls connected perpendicularly to each other. The top surface has a plurality of longitudinal grooves which are formed therein and extend parallel to each other. Each one of the plurality of grooves has a width substantially equal to each other. The paving block body has at least one projection connected to one of the side walls and positioned between the top and bottom surfaces. The at least one projection projects from the one side wall a distance equal to or substantially equal to the width of the grooves.
Abstract:
A flexible interlocking element (10) having opposing, interlocking ends (12, 14). Element end (12), features a contour, including element top surface segment (16), extending to bend (18), then defining a tongue element (34) extending downwardly along an incline (19), to inverted bend (20), which defines a tongue side (60) having a tangent (62). The contour of the tongue, further extending downward and around to bend (22), which defines a tongue tip (58). The tongue tip (58) having a bottom (54) with a tangent (56). The tongue further extending upward along incline (26), then further extending horizontally to bend (28), then further extending vertically downward to bend (30). Bend (30) defines the lower edge of bottom surface segment (32). Element end (14) features a contour including element top surface segment (36) extending horizontally to bend (38). A channel (52) is then defined by forming a side face of the element (14) to include, an upwardly extending bend (43), which further extends upward and around to bend (44), then downwardly along an incline to bend (46), which further extends vertically downward to bend (48), which defines the edge of a bottom surface segment (50).
Abstract:
A slab element for covering the ground is made e.g. of concrete and forms as a single piece. It has a head portion and a stem portion meeting at a notional meeting surface. The element is delimited by two opposite end faces of equal length joined by sides that form angled traces about a longitudinal axis common to the head at the stem, each said angled trace being formed by a succession of sides comprising at said head an inclined side face inclined in one direction relatively to the axis, a lateral side face extending lengthwise with respect to the axis and another inclined side face inclined in the opposite direction with respect to the axis, and comprising at the stem a lateral side face extending lengthwise with respect to the axis which is complementary to the lateral face of the head, the end face of the head together with its inclined sides and its lateral faces and the meeting surface describing a centrally symmetrical octagon, and the meeting surface together with the end face and lateral faces of the stem being symmetrical about the center of the stem. The head may describe a regular octagon. The stem may describe a square. But the stem may also describe a circle. The elements can be laid to form a composite ground covering structure, laid e.g. in herringbone bond pattern, and laid e.g. to include one or more supplementing slab elements of the same peripheral configuration as the stems of the elements.
Abstract:
A stone arrangement for pavements comprises at least one center stone and, surrounding it, a multiplicity of border stones, the said center stone and border stones being provided with irregularly shaped interlocking recesses and projections to form a mutual anchoring of the stones and to prevent tilting of the border stones when exposed to an overload.
Abstract:
