摘要: A novel method and apparatus for measuring the dynamic loading characteristics of a soil bed is provided. The invention pertains to a method and apparatus for measuring, as a function of time, the resistance to penetration offered by a soil bed as the apparatus is fed into the soil at a constant rate. The device of the invention measures and records the multidirectional forces exerted upon it as it is fed through varying layers and types of soil in order to determine the types of soil encountered, their resistance to leading forces, and their various thicknesses and compositions. The device and method are particularly useful for testing and evaluating the bed surfaces of railroads and highways.

摘要: The process consists in subjecting the component to vibrations and detecting disturbances in the vibrations. The device for the application of this process comprises a vibrator (21) equipped with a swivelling clip (22) in which the component to be tested (23) is fixed. An accelerometer (34) fixed to the vibrating support (30) of the clip delivers an output signal to an electronic circuit which suppresses the low frequencies and which controls indicator lights indicating the acceptance or the refusal of the component. The position of the clip can be modified during the check.

摘要: A testing device and method for determining the coefficient of restitution of a rebounding object, such as a ball, by comparison of the bounce periods of successive bounces of the ball. The ball is dropped onto the reaction plate from which it is permitted to rebound at least three times. A transducer such as a microphone is mounted near the reaction plate to detect the impacts on the reaction plate. An electronic circuit times the interval or bounce period between impacts, stores the bounce periods for comparison. The coefficient of restitution for the rebounded object is determined by comparing a subsequent bounce interval to a preceding bounce period as a ratio. The coefficient of restitution so determined is displayed on an LCD display.

摘要: An analyzing structure for determining properties such as elastic shear modulus and mechanical hysteresis of a material. A pair of mutually spaced holders hold the sample in such a way that the holders are interconnected by the sample, and these holders are in turn carried by driver and driven supports. A drive sets the driver support into vibratory motion so that the latter is transmitted through the sample to the driven support. By detecting the manner in which the driver and driven supports vibrate it is possible to determine properties of the sample. The sample is tested by cyclically generating substantially pure shear forces in the sample, with the power required to sustain the vibrations of the sample at a constant level being measured to determine the damping of the sample and the frequency of vibration being measured to determine the modulus of the sample.
