Abstract: A miniaturized device for pressurizing fluid. The device includes a hollow piston that provides a fluid path and a valve member. The valve member is configured for axial movement so that the valve axis remains parallel to the piston axis. The valve member is arranged at one end of the hollow piston. The valve member may be partially or completely disposed within the hollow piston. The device is particularly adapted for use in a mechanically operated atomizer to produce an inhalable aerosol of a liquid medicament without the use of propellant gas.

Abstract: A miniaturised device for producing high pressure in a fluid imposes stringent requirements on the manufacturing process. The device according to the invention consists of a hollow piston displaceably mounted in a cylinder and a valve member which is guided by the hollow piston and mounted so as to be axially movable relative to the hollow piston. The valve member is arranged at one end of the hollow piston inside or immediately in front of the end of the hollow piston. The device is used in a mechanically operated high pressure atomiser. This consists of a two part housing which comprises a pump housing with nozzle, a blocking mechanism, a spring housing with spring, a non-pressurised storage container for the fluid and a mechanical counter integrated in the spring housing. The valve operates without any auxiliary force, closes very rapidly and is sealed tight against high pressure. The atomiser is safe and simple to operate and environmentally friendly. The fluid is metered extremely accurately. The atomiser is used, for example, to produce an inhalable aerosol of a liquid medicament without the use of propellant gas, at 320 bar, for example.

Abstract: A pumping system comprises a pump barrel that is adapted to be placed into a well casing. A plunger is reciprocatably positioned within the pump barrel and has an open top end, a bottom end, and a traveling valve at the bottom end. A connector is coupled to the plunger below the top end. A rod is coupled to the connector and is translatable to reciprocate the plunger within the pump barrel using an upstroke and a downstroke. Further, the top end of the plunger is adapted to direct particulate into the plunger and away from the pump barrel upon each upstroke.

Abstract: An improved manure transfer system is disclosed. A collection hopper is located at a first location, preferably within a building, for collecting manure and animal waste products from the building. A piston pump apparatus directs and forces the collected manure through a pump cylinder into a below-grade transfer conduit that carries and deposits the manure through a discharge outlet located at a remote, second location. Means for bypassing the pump piston and cylinder are provided for accessing the transfer conduit enabling safe servicing and maintenance of the system. Isolation means are provided at the conduit discharge outlet for isolating the outlet from accumulated manure at the second location.

Abstract: A multicylinder, improved mud pump is disclosed, the preferred embodiment incorporating a hydraulically powered piston in a cylinder which connects with a piston rod which, in turn, drives a second piston in a cylinder adapted to pump mud. The first piston is driven by fluid from a rotary distribution valve, with the distribution valve being driven independently from the movement of the piston; also, the piston can be driven on its return stroke by entrapped fluid routed from a second cylinder, or the piston can be driven on its return stroke by fluid routed from the valve. Abstract: A reciprocating well pump assembly has a barrel and a piston reciprocally carried within the barrel between up stroke and down stroke positions. A travelling valve moves with the piston and has a closed position during the up stroke an open position during the down stroke. A relief port extends from a bore of the piston below the travelling valve into the barrel. A valve sleeve mounted around the body of the travelling valve is axially movable between a closed position, closing the tubular body relief port, and an open position, communicating well fluid in the barrel with the well fluid in the bore of the piston. When nearing the top of the stroke, the valve sleeve abuts a stop in the barrel. Continued upward movement of the piston causes the valve sleeve to open the relief port.
