Additionally, a fully-draining diaphragm pump is disclosed having a drain line configured to drain the lowest point of a product chamber to ensure no fluid becomes trapped in the diaphragm pump when not in use. A method of cleaning a fully-draining diaphragm pump and fully-draining check valve assembly is further disclosed comprising inducing turbulent flow of water, wash solution, and/or sanitizer through the assembly and opening ball valves the drain lines of the fully-draining check valves to vent the assembly.

    Abstract: A valve device is provided for controlling air flow. The valve device includes a plug closure member having an interior chamber and a stop device positioned within the interior chamber of the plug closure member. The valve device further includes a check valve having a plate positioned adjacent an inlet opening of the plug closure member and an alignment device attached to the plate and received within a stop opening of the stop device. The check valve is movable between a closed position in which the plate limits passage of a lift air through the interior chamber and an open position in which the plate allows passage of the lift air through the interior chamber. The stop device engages the check valve in the open position.

    Abstract: A fluid feed distributor improves particle and feed contacting by using a flow actuated plug to prevent back flow of fluidizable particles through a fluid feed outlet when fluid feed to a riser conduit ceases. The plug is located at or near the bottom of a riser contacting conduit where a back flow of particles can occur. The plug drops into the fluid feed outlet when fluid flow stops. The plug and a supporting stem will usually have an at least partially vertical orientation to provide the preferred gravity closure of the flow actuated plug. The plug arrangement can also provide improved feed distribution. Preferably the fluid actuated plug will act in conjunction with a fluid dispersion device. The dispersion device may be located upstream in a feed conduit that houses the plug and a fluid outlet at its downstream end. In addition, the fluid actuated plug can also serve to adjust the dispersion of feed fluid during operation of the unit. The restricted opening that receives the plug may comprise a spray nozzle that further improves feed dispersion. A restricted opening in the form of a venturi offers particularly advantageous feed distribution benefits when cooperatively arranged with the plug.
