摘要: A set fastening, ejecting, and stacking system for stacking sets of printed sheets with staples or other set fasteners that are being ejected by a set ejector with a horizontal movement component to slide the stapled set out over the stack. An automatic dynamic ramp system is provided by a foldable member which is folded in a vertical direction by the horizontal movement of the set ejector to temporarily lift up the stapled area of the set out of contact with the stack while that set is being ejected to prevent snagging.

摘要: Newspapers and other printed matter fed from a printing press or inserting machine are generally folded or delivered in a continuous stream with the papers oriented in an overlapped or imbricated relationship. The stream of papers are received and stacked by the stacking apparatus or stacker which must operate at high speeds. The stacker orients the papers in the stacks and ejects the bundles of papers. The present invention relates to devices intended to reduce the prospects for inadvertent interference with the stacking mechanism or to reduce the potential for injury.

摘要: An apparatus for stacking flat printed products, wherein a stack (22) is ejected from a stacking well (12) by means of an ejector (30), and a cover sheet (28) is pulled into the stacking well (12) as the ejector ejects the previously formed stack. The next stack (22) then comes to lie on this cover sheet (28). Arranged on the ejector (30) is a support (38) having a driving pin (40) which points downward. In each case, a cover sheet (28) is pinned on to said driving pin (40) by means of a support plate (50) which can be lifted and on which the cover sheet is positioned. By changing the position of a stripping lever (46) after the stack (22) has been ejected, the cover sheet (28), which has been pulled into the stacking well (12), is stripped off the driving pin (40).

摘要: A sheet handling apparatus receives on a handling tray a plurality of sheets discharged from an image recording apparatus such as a printer, a copier or the like in a first direction, thereby forming a sheet stack of a series of sheets on the handling tray, and transfers the sheet stack onto an accumulation tray which is disposed with respect to the handling tray in a second direction which intersects the first direction. A first gripper grips the sheet stack on the handling tray and transfers it toward the accumulation tray in the second direction, and a second gripper which grips the sheet stack at an edge portion on the image recording apparatus side receives the sheet stack from the first transfer means after the first transfer means transfers the sheet stack by a predetermined distance in the second direction and transfers the sheet stack in the second direction.

摘要: A self-adaptive stacker comprising infeed and stacking sections whose movement is coordinated to provide interception of the signature stream. A microprocessor utilizes a signal, representative of the infeed conveyor speed, together with a signal from a signature counter, to track the movement of each signature and thereby its arrival at the intercept position. Low armature inertia motors drive the three axes, (stacking section, the turntable, and the ejectors) to provide rapid starting, acceleration, deceleration, and stopping at selected positions. These motors are controlled to interact in real-time in order to adapt the three axes to the rate of the incoming signatures. The movement of the signature carriers is altered, when necessary, due to speed changes of the signature stream. A sensor located at the intercept ready position detects the passage of a signature carrier to initiate acceleration of the signature carrier by an amount which is a function principally of signature thickness, velocity, and separation distance to control the amount of acceleration required to move the carrier beneath the first signature of the next stack to be formed. A turntable section forms compensated bundles by rotating a platform. A pusher assembly is mounted beneath the rotatable turntable platform and includes pusher bars arranged by linkage members to move precisely along the path of the drive chain to enhance monitoring, control and movement of the push rods. A sensor senses the passage of a push rod to detect the initial movement and subsequent thereto the arrival of a push rod to the home position.

摘要: A stacker having platforms movable along a path by chains. Cam followers on the platforms engage a cam surface which controls the platform path. The chains are driven by a motor in a closed-loop system which monitors the platforms and controls their speed. The closed-loop system first decelerates the platforms and thereafter stops one platform in the intercept-ready position. The platform cam follower enters a claw which moves the end of the platform through the stream to collect signatures when the downstream platform reaches a predetermined count and deposits the stack on a turntable. A piston assembly rotates the turntable one-half turn after each deposit. Different pressure values are selectively applied to the piston assembly to slow the turntable before it is halted. A rotatable motor coaxial with the turntable axis drives the pushers through drive chains maintained under tension by gas springs which impose opposing forces upon these chains to maintain chain tension regardless of the direction the chains are driven. Jets on the surface of the turntable selectively emit air when a signature is deposited thereon to facilitate removal of a batch. A microprocessor-based controller continuously monitors and periodically adjusts the drop delay and stacking speed of the chains and the stacking platforms to allow the platforms to collect signatures at the lowest speed commensurate with stack size, to form neat stacks, the latter operation being accomplished by either a table look-up or an on-line calculation technique.

摘要: An improved apparatus is operable to stack signatures having one edge portion which is thicker than other edge portions of the signatures. The apparatus compensates for the thickness of the one edge portion by flattening the one edge portion and offsetting successive layers in a stack of signatures. The apparatus includes a platform which receives the signatures in an initial orientation. This platform is rotated about a vertical axis to offset a first group of signatures from their initial orientation. The signatures subsequently received on the platform have a relatively thick edge portion offset from the first group of signatures. After a retractable apparatus has been extended over the top of a group of signatures, the platform is raised to press the signatures against the retractable apparatus and thereby flatten the signatures.

摘要: Stack handling apparatus includes an input delivery section having two spaced apart conveyor segments operatively arranged to move equidistantly with respect to a centerline between the two conveyor segments. A stack formation section receives articles conveyed in a serial stream from the input delivery section and includes a carriage having a blade apparatus which is maintained at a generally constant predetermined angle as the carriage is transported in a closed loop transport movement path. Articles are assembled into batches on the blade apparatus, and each batch is transferred to door gate apparatus by relative linear movement. The door gate apparatus releases the batch for linear free fall movement to a turntable mechanism of a stack delivery section. The turntable mechanism alternately rotates 180.degree. after the receipt of each batch. Longitudinally extendable hydraulic assemblies are eccentrically connected to rotate the turntable mechanism. Once complete, the assembled stack is ejected from the turntable mechanism.
