Abstract: A network device of a core network may maintain a mapping table that maps core network slices with quality of service (QoS) class identifiers (QCIs) based on service profile identifiers (SPIDs), and may receive, from a user device, a request for service with a particular QCI included in the QCIs of the mapping table. The network device may identify a particular SPID of the SPIDs in the mapping table based on the particular QCI of the service, and may generate a flow request based on the particular SPID. The network device may cause the flow request to be provided to a radio access network (RAN) associated with the user device, to cause the RAN to select a RAN slice for provision of the service to the user device.

Abstract: A quality of service traffic steering approach for multi-access edge computing (MEC) environments is disclosed. In an embodiment, a network exposure function (NEF) or similar device (e.g., MEC controller or orchestrator) monitors a quality of service (QoS) of a data session between a user equipment (UE) and an application. The NEF then can determine when the QoS of the data session does not meet a requested service level agreement (SLA). When the SLA is not met, the NEF identifies a MEC host that meets the SLA using a database of MEC applications. Based on the identified MEC host, the NEF re-routes the data session to the MEC host.

The network device may provide service profile information to a security device included in a core network to cause the security device to forward traffic transmitted by the application server toward a destination via the network slice. Abstract: A network device may select a first user plane function for establishing, with a user equipment, a protocol data unit session with a single flow and may receive an application function trigger associated with a first new flow for a first application of the user equipment. The network device may select a second user plane function for the first new flow and may create a first traffic filter for the first new flow. The network device may cause the first traffic filter to be provided to the user equipment so that first application traffic is routed, based on the first traffic filter, to the second user plane function and a first multi-access edge computing device associated with the second user plane function.

Abstract: In some implementations, a first network device may be associated with a serving gateway control plane function of a core network. The first network device may send, via a first interface, an association message to a second network device that is associated with a session management function and a packet data gateway control plane function of the core network. The first network device may receive selection information from the second network device via the first interface. The first network device may select, based on the selection information, a third network device that is associated with a serving gateway user plane function of the core network. The first network device may cause the third network device to route traffic for a packet data network session associated with a user device.

Abstract: A device may receive data indicating a required quality of service (QoS), and may receive radio access network (RAN) information associated with a RAN, wherein the RAN information is provided by a centralized unit (CU) of the RAN. The device may provide the RAN information to a multi-access edge computing (MEC) platform, and may receive, from the MEC platform, a QoS request that requests the required QoS. The device may provide the QoS request to the CU, and may receive a QoS response to the QoS request. The device may provide the QoS response to a policy control function (PCF) of a core network, and may receive an indication of approval of the QoS response from the PCF. The device may cause, based on receiving the indication of approval, the required QoS to be implemented by the MEC platform and network devices associated with the core network.

Abstract: An example method can include receiving information identifying a quality of service (QoS) flow for a communication session involving a user equipment (UE). The information can include a QoS profile and a QoS flow identifier (QFI). The method can include identifying, from a QoS profile, a QoS configuration identifier associated with the QoS flow and selecting a data radio bearer (DRB) for the communications associated with the QoS flow. The DRB can be selected based on a mapping of a plurality of DRBs to a plurality of QoS flows, and the mapping can be based on corresponding QoS configuration identifiers of the plurality of QoS flows. The method can include assigning the QoS flow to the DRB by adding the QFI of the QoS flow to the mapping relative to the DRB and causing the communications associated with the QoS flow to be transmitted using the DRB.

Abstract: A device may obtain, for an account associated with a user equipment (UE) that is connected to a network, subscriber profile data that includes a group identifier for a messaging group for UEs that are eligible to utilize a group messaging service. The device may update a data structure to associate the group identifier and a UE identifier for the UE, wherein the data structure also associates the group identifier and other UE identifiers for other UEs of the messaging group. The device may receive, based on being subscribed to the group messaging service, group message data for a group message. The device may select the UE and the one or more other UEs as target recipients of the group message and may provide, using multicast, the contents of the group message to the UE and the one or more other UEs.

The platform information may identify a platform device that hosts a user plane function (UPF) for the IMS session. The process may include receiving, from the subscriber management component, the platform information and selecting, based on the platform information, a user plane component of the IMS network. The user plane component may perform a user plane operation associated with the IMS session. The process may include causing the user plane component to perform the user plane operation for the IMS session.
