Abstract: Apparatuses, systems and methods for wearable devices such as eyewear are described. According to one embodiment, the wearable device includes a body, electronics, and a connector. The body is configured to hold one or more optical elements, the body being disposable between a collapsed condition and a wearable condition in which the device is wearable by a user to hold the one or more optical elements within user view. The electronics are carried by the body. The connector is configured to enable establishment of an electrical and/or electronic connection with the electronics via the connector, the connector being housed by the body such that the connector is substantially obscured from view when the body is in the wearable condition, and such that the connector is exposed for connective access when the body is in the collapsed condition.

Abstract: Systems and methods for device handshaking are described. Embodiments for client device and associated wearable device initiated handshaking are described. In certain embodiments, a device such as wearable camera eyeglasses having both high-speed wireless circuitry and low-power wireless circuitry communicates with a client device. The low-power wireless circuitry is used for signaling and to manage power on handshaking for the high-speed circuitry in order to reduce power consumption. An analysis of a high-speed connection status may be performed by a client device, and used to conserve power at the glasses with signaling from the client device to indicate when the high-speed circuitry of the glasses should be powered on.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide for detecting movement of the computing device during playback of media content on a display of the computing device, receiving movement data from one or more sensors of the computing device, analyzing the movement data to determine a direction of movement, calculating a rotation of the display of the media content based on the direction of movement, and causing the display of the media content to rotate relative to the direction of movement to display a portion of the media content associated with the direction of movement.

Abstract: An electronics-enabled eyewear device includes a mode indicator comprising a series of light emitters arranged on a forward-facing surface of the eyewear device, for example being provided by a ring of LEDs arranged peripherally about a camera lens opening in a front surface of an eyewear frame. The mode indicator automatically displays different visual indications corresponding to different modes of operation or states of the eyewear device. One visual indication provides an animated pattern of circulating LEDs during video capture by the eyewear device.

Abstract: Embodiments for device pairing using optical codes are described. One embodiment is a host device with a memory and one or more processors configured to pair the host device with a wearable device. The paring involves generating and displaying an image including a first optical code, decoding decode a pairing advertisement from the wearable device, generating a second optical code, the second optical code comprising a host pairing advertisement code, and decoding a second pairing advertisement including the host pairing advertisement code. Additional embodiments involve, in response to the second pairing advertisement, establishing a communication channel between the host device and the wearable device, communicating keys between the host and wearable device, and using an application-level elliptic curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH) exchange with the first key and the second key to establish a shared secret.

Abstract: Systems and methods for camera devices with low boot time are provided. In one example embodiment, a user input is received at an interface of a camera. In response to the user input, a low-power processor boots a image processor. The image processor then captures camera data and writes the camera data to memory before automatically powering down. In certain embodiments, a low-power wireless connection from the camera to a client device is established. Based on this connection, the low-power processor initiates boot-up of a high-speed processor and wireless communication circuitry, which is used to transmit the camera data to the client device.

Abstract: A gesture-based wake process for an AR system is described herein. The AR system places a hand-tracking input pipeline of the AR system in a suspended mode. A camera component of the hand-tracking input pipeline detects a possible visual wake command being made by a user of the AR system. On the basis of detecting the possible visual wake command, the AR system wakes the hand-tracking input pipeline and places the camera component in a fully operational mode. If the AR system, using the hand-tracking input pipeline, verifies the possible visual wake command as an actual wake command, the AR system initiates execution of an AR application.

Abstract: An electronics-enabled eyewear device provides a primary command channel and a secondary command channel for receiving user input during untethered wear, one of the command channels providing for tap input detected by motion sensor(s) incorporated in a body of the eyewear device. A predefined tap sequence or pattern can be applied to frame of the device to trigger as device function. In one example, a double tap of the device's frame causes charge level display indicating a battery charge level.
