Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and techniques are disclosed for rapidly identifying potential candidates within a pool of enrolled fingerprint images for unconstrained fingerprint matching with an inquiry fingerprint. The techniques may include applying one or more window regions to both enrolled and inquiry fingerprint images and determining a minutiae score for each such window region based on the minutiae within that window region. One or more components of the minutiae score for window regions of the inquiry image may then be compared against similar components in the minutiae scores for window regions of the enrolled fingerprint images, and enrolled fingerprint images having window regions with minutiae scores sufficiently similar to the minutiae score of a window region of the inquiry fingerprint image may be selected for later unconstrained matching with the inquiry fingerprint image.

Abstract: Embodiments of apparatus, computer program product, and method for verifying fingerprint images are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of verifying fingerprint images includes receiving an inquiry fingerprint image of a user, identifying pattern characteristics of the inquiry fingerprint image, identifying minutiae characteristics of the inquiry fingerprint image, determining a weighted combination of the pattern characteristics of the inquiry fingerprint image and the minutiae characteristics of the inquiry fingerprint image, where the weighted combination comprises a pattern matching weight and a minutiae matching weight derived in accordance with a separation of a first empirical probability density function of genuine fingerprints from a second empirical probability density function of impostor fingerprints, and verifying the inquiry fingerprint image based on a set of fused scores computed using the weighted combination of the pattern characteristics of the inquiry fingerprint image and the minutiae characteristics of the inquiry fingerprint image.

Abstract: A wearable device may include a sensor system capable of obtaining physiological from a user's body. Some wearable devices may include a substance delivery system. A sensor system of a wearable device may include at least one “bio-assurance sensor” capable of obtaining biometric data that may be used to identify a user. For example, the bio-assurance sensor may be used to ensure that the wearable device is not removed from the user's body and/or placed on or in another user's body. In some examples, the wearable device may be used with a second device, such as a smart phone, that includes at least one “authentication sensor,” such as a fingerprint sensor, that also may be used to identify a user. However, in some implementations the wearable device may include at least one authentication sensor.

Abstract: An ultrasonic reflex imaging device and a method are described. A device according to the invention may include a platen, a generator, and a receiver positioned between the platen and the generator. A backer may be positioned so that the insonification device is between the receiver array and the backer. The backer may be configured to absorb or delay energy that originated from the generator. The generator produces an energy pulse, which travels through the receiver and the platen to reach a biological object. Part of the energy pulse is reflected from the biological object. The reflected energy pulse travels through the platen to the detector. The detector converts the reflect energy pulse to electric signals, which are then interpreted to create an image of the biological object.

Abstract: Systems and methods for multi-spectral ultrasonic imaging are disclosed. In one embodiment, a finger is scanned at a plurality of ultrasonic scan frequencies. Each scan frequency provides an image information set describing a plurality of pixels of the finger including a signal-strength indicating an amount of energy reflected from a surface of a platen on which a finger is provided. For each of the pixels, the pixel output value corresponding to each of the scan frequencies is combined to produce a combined pixel out put value for each pixel. Systems and methods for improving the data capture of multi-spectral ultrasonic imaging are also disclosed.
