摘要: Apparatus and methods are described including placing, into a subject's body, a blood-pump tube, with a blood pump disposed within the blood-pump tube. At least one blood-pressure-measurement tube, which defines an opening at a distal end thereof, extends to at least an outer surface of the blood-pump tube, such that the opening at the distal end of the blood-pressure-measurement tube is in direct fluid communication with a bloodstream of the subject outside the blood-pump tube. Blood is pumped through the blood-pump tube, using the blood pump. Pressure of the bloodstream of the subject outside the blood-pump tube is measured by measuring pressure of blood within the blood-pressure-measurement tube. Other applications are also described.

摘要: Apparatus and method are described including identifying a subject as suffering from a condition that causes the subject to have elevated central venous pressure. 摘要: Apparatus and methods are described including inserting a catheter into a subject's body via a vein of the subject's groin. The catheter is advanced distally such that a distal end of the catheter is disposed inside the subject's renal vein. Respective stabilizing portions of the catheter stabilize the catheter by being in contact with inner walls of, respectively, an iliac vein of the subject, and a vena cava of the subject. Subsequently, a medical device is deployed inside the renal vein by retracting the distal end of the catheter, such that the distal end of the catheter is in a retracted state, in which the respective stabilizing portions of the catheter still stabilize the catheter by being in contact with the inner walls of, respectively, the subject's iliac vein and the subject's vena cava. Other applications are also described.

摘要: Apparatus and methods are described for use with a venous system of a subject that includes one or more tributary vessels that flow into a vein at junctions. A blood-pump-catheter (70) includes a material (36) configured to be placed at a downstream location that is downstream of the junctions and to at least partially occlude blood flow through the vein. The material defines a blood-outlet opening (31). A blood pump (24) pumps blood from a region of the vein that is adjacent to the junctions, and through the blood-outlet opening (31). A blood-flow pathway (60) directs upstream venous blood flow from an upstream location that is upstream of the junctions, to downstream of the material (36), without the upstream venous blood flow being pumped by the pump (24). Other applications are also described.

摘要: Apparatus and methods are described including manufacturing an impeller by forming a structure having first and second bushings at proximal and distal ends of the structure, the first and second bushings being connected to one another by at least one elongate element. The elongate element is caused to radially expand and form at least one helical elongate element, at least partially by axially compressing the structure. The helical elongate element is coated with a coupling agent configured to enhance bonding between the helical elongate element and an elastomeric layer. The coated helical elongate element is coated with the elastomeric layer. Subsequently, an elastomeric film is coupled to the helical elongate element, such that the helical elongate element with the elastomeric film coupled thereto defines a blade of the impeller. 摘要: Apparatus and methods are described including a tube configured to traverse an aortic valve of a subject. A frame is disposed within at least a portion of the tube. An impeller rotates such as to pump blood from the subject's left ventricle to the subject's aorta. The impeller is disposed inside the tube such that, when the impeller and the tube are deployed inside the subject, and prior to rotation of the impeller, a gap between an outer edge of the impeller and an inner surface of the tube is less than 1 mm. A rigid stabilizing element stabilizes the impeller with respect to the tube, such that during rotation of the impeller, a gap between the outer edge of the impeller and the inner surface of the tube is maintained. Other applications are also described.

摘要: Apparatus and methods are described including a pump-outlet tube configured to traverse an aortic valve of a subject, such that the proximal end of the pump-outlet tube is disposed within the subject's aorta and the distal end of the pump-outlet tube is disposed within the subject's left ventricle. An impeller is configured to be disposed within the left ventricle within the pump-outlet tube, and to pump blood through the pump-outlet tube. A frame, disposed around the impeller, includes a cylindrical portion and a proximal conical portion. A proximal end of an optical fiber is disposed outside the subject's body and the distal end of the optical fiber is coupled to the proximal conical portion of the frame such that the distal end of the optical fiber extends to outside the pump-outlet tube in direct fluid communication with left-ventricular bloodstream of the subject. 摘要: Apparatus and methods are described including a blood pump catheter that includes an axial shaft, and an impeller disposed on the axial shaft. A motor drives the impeller to pump blood, by rotating the impeller. A drive cable extends from the motor to the axial shaft, the drive cable being configured to impart rotational motion from the motor to the impeller by rotating. A distal tip portion is disposed at a distal end of the blood pump catheter. The drive cable, the axial shaft, and the distal tip portion define a continuous lumen therethrough from outside the subject's body to the distal end of the blood pump catheter. The continuous lumen facilitates insertion of the blood pump catheter into the subject's body over a guidewire, and, subsequently, provides a channel through which the purging fluid flows. Other applications are also described.

A frame is disposed around the impeller, with a proximal bearing disposed at a proximal end of the frame and a distal bearing disposed at a distal end of the frame. An axial shaft passes through the proximal bearing, the lumen defined by the impeller, and the distal bearing. A motion-cushioning spring is disposed around the axial shaft between a distal end of the impeller and the distal bearing, the motion-cushioning spring being configured to cushion axial motion that the impeller undergoes. 摘要: Apparatus and methods are described including a blood pump that includes an impeller having proximal and distal end portions, a frame disposed around the impeller, and a shaft member that passes through the proximal and distal end portions of the impeller and that is configured to impart rotational motion to the impeller. The impeller defines a radially-constrained configuration in which the impeller is introduced into a subject's body and a non-radially-constrained configuration in which the impeller is configured to pump blood within the subject's body. The distal end portion of the impeller is configured to slide over the shaft member as the impeller changes from its radially-constrained configuration to its non-radially-constrained configuration. Other applications are also described.
