摘要: Aspects of a method and system for data exchange with a multimedia and Ethernet enabled LAN subsystem are provided. A networking subsystem may receive a protocol data unit via a network link, extract audio and/or video data from the protocol data unit, and communicate the audio and/or video data to an audio and/or video processor via a bus that bypasses the one or both of a northbridge and a southbridge. A networking subsystem may receive audio and/or video data from an audio and/or video processor via a bus that bypasses said one or both of a northbridge and a southbridge, encapsulate the audio and/or video data into a protocol data unit, and transmit the protocol data unit onto a network link. The protocol data unit may be received over said the network link utilizing Ethernet physical layer protocols. The bus may be scaled based on a type, format, and/or rate of data communicated over it.

摘要: A system and method for energy efficient Ethernet (EEE) enhanced information technology power management tools. EEE-based computing center resources are designed to monitor energy savings events hardware components (e.g., physical layer device) included within the computing center resource. Energy saving statistics based on such monitoring can be provided to a power management tool. This monitoring information enables the power management tool to make broad service-level energy savings decisions on actual network activity. In addition, feedback based on the broad service-level energy savings decisions can be provided to the EEE-based computing center resources for consideration by their individual EEE control policies.

摘要: A system and method for forming N0GBASE-T. In one embodiment, N 10GBASE-T PHYs are matched to a N×10G MAC via a shim layer. The shim layer is designed to distribute data received from a higher rate MAC to multiple lower-rate PHYs on the transmit end, and to collect data received from multiple lower-rate PHYs to a higher rate MAC.
