Abstract: A connection system for connecting a first medical device component to a second medical device component is disclosed. The connection system of the present disclosure provides for quick and intuitive coupling and decoupling of two opposing medical device components through the use of a connection path and a disconnection path, the connection path being distinct from the disconnection path. Furthermore, the connection system of the present disclosure provides audible and tactile connection feedback through the use of elastically deformable connection elements.

Abstract: Disclosed herein include systems, methods, compositions, and kits for determining the spatial location and copy number of targets (e.g., nucleic acid targets, cellular component targets) in a sample. There are provided, in some embodiments, substrates comprising a plurality of spatial regions. A plurality of oligonucleotide barcodes can be associated with each of the spatial regions and can comprise a predetermined spatial label. Oligonucleotide barcodes of the same spatial region can comprise the same spatial label, and oligonucleotide barcodes of the different spatial regions can comprise different spatial labels. The method can comprise contacting the substrate with a sample such that each distinct spatial region contacts a distinct spatial location of the sample. The method can comprise in situ extension (e.g., reverse transcription) of the oligonucleotide barcodes.

Abstract: An analyzer for analysis of a biological sample prepared by a pre analytical system and a method of operating an analyzer that received samples prepared by a pre-analytical system. The analyzer is automated and has a processing deck with a plurality of modules serviced by a plurality of multichannel pipettors. Due to the high volume of pipette tips used by and dispensed from the multichannel pipettors, the processing deck has a pipette dispense assembly having a plurality of chutes, so that a multichannel pipettor does not need to wait to discard a pipette tip into a chute. The plurality of chutes allows the pipette tips to fall therethrough to a waste receptacle below the processing deck. The processing deck also includes a plurality of drawers that contain bins for consumable pipette tips to be used by the multichannel pipettors. Some of the drawers have multiple bins and some have only one bin because the location of the chutes does not permit all drawers to have the same depth.

Abstract: A medical device having resistance to Candida albicans yeast and antimicrobial activity includes a medical device surface having a copolymer coating of antifungal moieties and ionic binding moieties. The copolymer coating is obtained by copolymerizing antifungal monomers selected from tricyclodecane dimethanol diacrylate, 4-tert-butylcyclohexyl acrylate, neopentyl glycol diacrylate, trimethylcyclohexyl methacrylate, isobornyl acrylate, and mixtures thereof and ionic binding monomers selected from acrylic acid, methyl acrylate, and mixtures thereof. The coating may be loaded with elutable antimicrobial substances ionically bound to the ionic binding moieties. The antimicrobial substances may be cationic, such as, a cationic dye such as ethyl violet chloride, a cationic drug such as chlorhexidine diacetate, cationic peptides such as cecropins, magainins, protegrins, and bactenicins, or ionic silver. The medical device may be a catheter having an intraluminal surface and an extraluminal surface, and the copolymer coating is disposed on the intraluminal surface and the extraluminal surface.

Abstract: Provided herein is an instrument delivery device including an instrument, a housing having a proximal end and a distal end and defining an inner volume configured to movably receive the instrument, a coupling device positioned at the distal end of the housing and including a lock configured to couple the housing to a proximal connector of the catheter assembly, and an advancement member configured to move relative to the housing to move the instrument between a first position and a second position. A scrubbing cap is engaged with the lock that includes a scrubbing insert, a housing having a connector portion configured to engage with the lock, a holder portion configured to retain the scrubbing insert therein, and a seal that seals the scrubbing insert within the holder portion. The scrubbing cap is engaged with the lock so as to be removable from the instrument delivery device.
