    Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive information identifying a virtual control resource set (CORESET) or a virtual search space for a semi-persistently scheduled shared channel. The UE may receive the semi-persistently scheduled shared channel using a default beam that is selected based at least in part on the virtual CORESET or the virtual search space.     Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques for reducing the decoding complexity for low cost devices (e.g., low cost UEs). One technique may include simplifying the PDCCH format. This may include generating a compact DCI format for transmitting DCI to a low cost device. The compact DCI format may correspond to at least one standard DCI format used by a regular UE and may comprise a reduced number of bits when compared to the standard DCI format. Another technique may include reducing the number of blind decodes. This technique may include selecting a set of resources for transmitting DCI from a limited set of decoding candidates, such that a receiving low cost device need only perform blind decodes for the limited set of decoding candidates.

In some aspects, a user equipment may receive an indication of a set of corresponding physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidates that includes at least a first PDCCH candidate included in a first control resource set (CORESET) and a corresponding second PDCCH candidate included in a second CORESET, wherein the first CORESET and the second CORESET have different transmission configuration indication (TCI) states; and selectively perform, based at least in part on a configuration, at least one of: independent decoding of the first PDCCH candidate, independent decoding of the second PDCCH candidate, or joint decoding of the first PDCCH candidate and the second PDCCH candidate.
