Abstract: Feedback reports (e.g., hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ)-acknowledgment (ACK) codebooks) may provide feedback for both downlink data messages (e.g., physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) messages) and control messages (e.g., physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) messages). As such, a base station may transmit an indication of a power savings mode in a control message (e.g., in scheduling downlink control information (DCI)), and the base station may be able to confirm whether a user equipment (UE) received (e.g., and implemented) the power savings mode via the feedback corresponding to the control message carrying the indication of the power savings mode. The techniques described herein may provide for improved synchronization of base station and UE power savings modes (e.g., as a base station may or may not implement a new power saving mode depending on whether the control message indicating the new power saving mode was successfully received and acknowledged).

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that relate to a two-step random access procedure. Generally, the described techniques allow different configurations for a first message of a random access procedure depending on a connected-state of the user equipment (UE) performing the random access procedure. A base station may transmit configuration information to the UE and the UE may use the configuration information to determine resources, coding, block size, or other factors for transmitting the first message based on the radio resource control (RRC) connected state of the UE. The UE may then monitor for a random access response from the base station based on the first message from the UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may select a beam from a set of beams and transmit an indication of the selected beam in a media access control (MAC) control element to establish a communication link with a base station. In some cases, the UE may select the beam and indicate the selection based on identifying a beam failure and/or determining to perform a random access procedure. When transmitting the indication of the selected beam, the UE may obtain an uplink resource for the transmission based on an availability of the uplink resource. For example, if the uplink resource is available, the UE may transmit the indication of the selected beam multiplexed with an uplink transmission. Alternatively, if the uplink resource is unavailable, the UE may request uplink resources for transmitting the indication of the selected beam.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a bandwidth part configuration for a plurality of bandwidth parts, wherein a first bandwidth part of the plurality of bandwidth parts is identified as being activated and is associated with first resources allocated for uplink grant-free transmissions by the UE on the first bandwidth part. The UE may receive determine to deactivate the first bandwidth part and activate a second bandwidth part, and may determine to reactivate the first bandwidth part. The UE may identify second resources for uplink grant-free transmissions by the UE on the first bandwidth part based at least in part on the bandwidth part configuration. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to enable abase station and a user equipment (UE) to identify and respond to communications in accordance with one or more communications services. For example, the base station and the UE may support communications in accordance with a wireless communications standard (e.g., third generation partnership project (3GPP) standard), in addition to supporting an additional communications service including one or more proprietary features. In some cases, the UE may transmit an indication to the base station, or the base station may otherwise determine, that the UE supports the proprietary features. Further, the base station may assign and transmit a unique radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) to the UE for the additional communications service (e.g., a proprietary RNTI). Accordingly, the UE and the base station may identify and use the proprietary RNTI when transmitting, receiving, decoding, and responding to proprietary communications messages.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In order to support beamforming operations, communicating devices may perform beam management procedures (e.g., beam failure detection (BFD)). Some such devices may operate (e.g., at least some of the time) in a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode that includes alternating periods of activity and inactivity. Improved coordination of beam management procedures in consideration of DRX mode operation may benefit such devices. A device may identify that it is configured to operate in a DRX mode, where each DRX period includes an active duration and an inactive duration. The device may identify that it is configured to perform a BFD procedure and may monitor for beam failure in accordance with the BFD procedure during (e.g., only during) the active duration of the DRX period.
