    Abstract: An example video codec includes memory configured to store the video data and one or more processors implemented in circuitry and communicatively coupled to the memory. The one or more processors are configured to determine that a current mode of coding a current block of the video data is a single tree partitioning mode. Based on the current mode being the single tree partitioning mode, the one or more processors are configured to refrain from determining whether there is a non-DC coefficient for a chroma component of a transform unit (TU) for the current block and refrain from coding a low-frequency non-separable transformation (LFNST) index in response to the refraining of the determination of whether there is the non-DC coefficient. The one or more processors are configured to code the current block in the single partitioning mode with LFNST disabled.

    Abstract: A method of decoding point cloud data comprises obtaining a bitstream that includes an arithmetically encoded syntax element indicating a vertical point position offset within a node of a tree that represents 3-dimensional positions of points in a point cloud represented by the point cloud data; and decoding the vertical point position offset, wherein decoding the vertical point position offset comprises: determining a laser index of a laser candidate in a set of laser candidates, wherein the determined laser index indicates a laser beam that intersects the node; determining a context index based on whether the laser beam is above a first distance threshold, between the first distance threshold and a second distance threshold, between the second distance threshold and a third distance threshold, or below the third distance threshold; and arithmetically decoding a bin of the vertical point position offset using a context indicated by the determined context index.

    Abstract: A method of decoding video data includes determining that a geometric partition mode is enabled for a current block of the video data and determining a split line dividing the current block into a first partition and a second partition, where determining the split line comprises selecting an angle for the split line from a plurality of angles, Each angle of the plurality of angles corresponding to an N:M ratio of samples of the current block, where N and M are integers. The split line is not at a corner of the current block. The method further includes determining geometric mode weights for the current block using the angle of the split line, generating a first prediction block using motion information for the first partition, and generating a second prediction block using motion information for the second partition.

    Abstract: An example device for filtering a decoded block of video data includes one or more processors implemented in circuitry and configured to decode a current block of a current picture of the video data, select a filter (such as an adaptive loop filter) to be used to filter pixels of the current block, calculate a gradient of at least one pixel for the current block, select a geometric transform to be performed on one of a filter support region or coefficients of the selected filter, wherein the one or more processors are configured to select the geometric transform that corresponds to an orientation of the gradient of the at least one pixel, perform the geometric transform on either the filter support region or the coefficients of the selected filter, and filter the at least one pixel of the current block using the selected filter after performing the geometric transform.

    Abstract: An example device for decoding video data includes one or more processors implemented in circuitry and configured to: generate an inter-prediction block for a current block of video data; generate an intra-prediction block for the current block of video data; generate a final prediction block for the current block of video data from the inter-prediction block and the intra-prediction block, including performing each of combined inter/intra prediction (CIIP) mode, overlapped block motion compensation (OBMC), and luma mapping with chroma scaling (LMCS) while generating the final prediction block; and decode the current block of video data using the final prediction block. To generate the final prediction block, the processors may perform LMCS on a first inter-prediction sub-block, combine the LMCS-mapped first inter-prediction sub-block with the intra-prediction block using CIIP, and perform OBMC between the first CIIP prediction block and a second inter-prediction sub-block.
