For example, aspects described herein may be used to configure a UE with a pattern that includes a battery recovery time period that prevents a battery voltage of the UE from falling below a critical threshold and/or reduces the likelihood of the battery voltage falling below the critical threshold. In this way, UE performance may be improved, battery performance may be improved, battery life may be extended, and/or the like.

Dedicated frequency resources of a physical random access channel (PRACH) may be designated for large and small frequency hops to facilitate the determination of timing offsets for PRACH transmissions. For instance, a frequency hopping pattern within the PRACH channel having a plurality of single tone transmission may include a first number of hops associated with a first frequency hopping distance (e.g., large frequency hops), and a second number of hops associated with a second frequency hopping distance (e.g., small frequency hops).

Abstract: A data structure for managing user equipment communications in a wireless communication system is presented. In some examples, the data structure may include one or more resource element blocks into which a frequency bandwidth of a downlink channel is divided within a symbol that defines a transmission time interval in a downlink subframe. Furthermore, the data structure may include a control region and a data region within at least one resource element block of the one or more resource element blocks. Additionally, the data structure may include a downlink resource grant, located within the control region, for a user equipment served by the downlink channel. In an additional aspect, a network entity and method for generating the example data structure are provided.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method includes determining that a cell operates in a shared access radio frequency spectrum, and transmitting signaling information to a mobile device indicating that the cell is prohibited from serving as a primary serving cell based at least in part on the determination that the cell operates in the shared access radio frequency spectrum. Another method includes receiving signaling information at a mobile device from a base station indicating that a cell operating in a shared access radio frequency spectrum is prohibited from serving as a primary serving cell, and identifying the cell as prohibited from serving as a primary serving cell based at least in part on the received signaling information. Another method includes identifying, by a mobile device, a cell operating in a shared access radio frequency spectrum as a secondary serving cell based at least in part on information stored on the mobile device.

Abstract: Cell selection techniques are provided for network access to cells that may employ one or more coverage enhancement techniques. A user equipment (UE), which may be a machine type communication (MTC) device, upon initial acquisition or upon wakeup may measure a reference signal received power (RSRP), reference signal received quality (RSRQ), or both, and determine a cell selection value based at least in part on the RSRP, RSRQ, or a combination thereof. The cell selection value may be determined based on an offset, which may be selected based on a measurement accuracy capability of the UE. UE sequential access attempts, neighbor cell list information that may include coverage enhancement of neighboring cells transmissions, and cell re-selection measurement frequency adjustments are also described.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided for cross-carrier scheduling when both PDCCH and EPDCCH are employed in a network that supports carrier aggregation. The apparatus receives a first component carrier and a second component carrier, where the first component carrier includes a first control channel, a second control channel, and carrier indication information. The first control channel corresponds to the first component carrier. The second control channel and the carrier indication information correspond to the second component carrier. The second control channel is one of at least a first type (e.g., PDCCH) or second type (e.g., EPDCCH) of control channel and the carrier indication information identifies the second component carrier for both the first and second types of control channels. The apparatus then processes the first and second control channels.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A receiving device may detect a signal associated with low latency transmissions and decode a non-low latency communication accordingly. The receiving device may receive an indicator from a transmitting device that indicates where and when low latency communications occur. The indication may specify frequency resources or symbols used by the low latency communication. The indicator may be transmitted during the same subframe as the low latency communication, at the end of a subframe, or during a subsequent subframe. The receiving device may use the indicator to mitigate low latency interference, generate channel estimates, and reliably decode the non-low latency communication. In some cases, the interfering low latency communication may occur within the serving cell of the receiving device; or the interfering low latency communication may occur in a neighboring cell.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide for opportunistic uplink transmissions within a slot. In some examples, after scheduling all regular uplink transmissions within a current slot, a base station (e.g., gNB) may identify a set of unused uplink resources within the current slot and generate and transmit unused resource information identifying the set of unused resources to the user equipment (UE) within the cell served by the base station. If a particular UE is configured to operate in an opportunistic mode, the UE may utilize the unused resource information to generate and transmit an opportunistic uplink transmission within the set of unused uplink resources.
