    摘要： Disclosed are a composition of matter, a process for making said composition, and a lubricating oil composition having improved anti-wear properties containing an effective amount of said composition of matter. The composition of matter comprises olefin-dimercapto-thiadiazole compositions, especially an oil soluble reaction product of an olefin; lithium, sodium or potassium 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole or mixtures thereof; and a member selected from the group consisting of S.sub.2 Cl.sub.2, SCl.sub.2, S.sub.2 Br.sub.2, SBr.sub.2, R-S-Cl, R-S-Br, and mixtures thereof, wherein R comprises C.sub.1 -C.sub.100 hydrocarbyl or bromo, chloro or hydroxy substituted hydrocarbyl. Some of these compositions can be represented as follows: ##STR1## wherein X comprises R.sub.1 -SS-R.sub.2, wherein R.sub.1 comprises a C.sub.6 -C.sub.100 hydrocarbyl or bromo, chloro or hydroxy substituted hydrocarbyl, and R.sub.2 comprises R.sub.1 or ##STR2## and wherein Y comprises H or X. Preferably R.sub.1 comprises C.sub.6 -C.sub.100 alkene or alkane, still more perferably, C.sub.6 -C.sub.20 alkene or alkane. These compositions are effective wear inhibitors in lubricating oil. The process for making oil soluble derivatives of 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole comprises first reacting an olefin with a member selected from the group consisting of S.sub.2 Cl.sub.2, SCl.sub.2, S.sub.2 Br.sub.2, SBr.sub.2, R-S-Cl, R-S-Br, and mixtures thereof, to form a first reaction product; and then reacting said first reaction product with lithium, sodium or potassium 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole or mixtures thereof.

    摘要： A functional fluid composition consisting essentially of (1) a phosphorus compound, preferably a phosphate ester containing at least two alkyl groups such as tributyl phosphate or di-n-butyl phenyl phosphate, alone or particularly in combination with a phosphate ester containing at least two aromatic groups, such as n-butyl diphenyl phosphate or tricresyl phosphate, (2) a polyalkylene glycol material, e.g. a polypropylene glycol ether having a molecular weight ranging from about 600 to about 1200, and particularly a combination of at least two polyalkylene glycol materials, e.g. two polypropylene glycol ethers having substantially different molecular weights, (3) a dicarboxylic acid ester, e.g. a diester of adipic acid such as diisodecyl adipate, and (4) a small amount of certain halogenated organic selenides or tellurides, preferably a chlorinated aryl selenide such as 4,4'-dichlorodiphenyl diselenide, or a chlorinated selenophene or a chlorinated tellurophene, e.g. tetrachloroselenophene or tetrachlorotellurophene.
