    摘要： A plate-like rotary chipping head has removable chipping knives mounted on its circumferential periphery for chiseling a flat face on a log or other wooden workpiece as the head rotates with a flat workpiece-confronting face thereof in a plane parallel to the direction of relative linear movement between the head and workpiece. Replaceable planing bit inserts are carried on such face for smoothing the flattened surface of the workpiece formed by the chipping knives. The chipping and planing functions are carried out simultaneously as the head rotates into the workpiece. Chips and planer shavings of a quality suitable for use as pulp chips are produced.

    摘要： Method and means, including a trim saw structure, for assembling finger jointing lumber by an impression finger joining process wherein the ends of two pieces of lumber are placed in spaced apart position and held securely by clamps. A movable section of the machine trims and shapes the ends of the lumber into fingers which are then engaged by a hot die for further impression forming and heating of the fingers. The die moves out of position and a movable applicator applies glue to the outer half of the matching ends of the lumber. The ends are then pressed together and the joined pieces of lumber are advanced away from the work station. The process is a continuous such that incoming random lengths of lumber are joined to form a continuous outgoing length of lumber for cutting into desired lengths. One or more lines of lumber may be advanced through the finger jointing work station during a machine cycle.

    摘要： A portable frame supports a mechanism for cutting pipes of various sizes. The pipe can also be grooved or bevelled at the same time. Initially a cutter cuts through a portion of a held, non-rotating pipe. Thereafter the pipe is rotated, or rolled, about its axic to permit the cutter to pass through the remaining portion of the cross section of the pipe to be cut. A single revolution of the pipe accomplishes the cutting thereof. Grooving or bevelling tools can be used simultaneously with the cutter to effect the grooving or bevelling of the pipe.

    摘要： The present specification discloses a tool head for use in machining timber trunks into beams and/or planks. The tool head is in the form of a truncated cone, hacking blades being attached to its periphery and extending over a generating line of the cone. Finishing blades which are provided on and project from the smaller area end of the conical head, are arranged in groups, the cutting edges of the finishing blades in a group being aligned substantially parallel to each other and a group of finishing blades being located between each two hacking blades. The tool head can be rotatably driven about its longitudinal axis, the finishing blades in each group being graduated along the axis of the tool head in such a way that each successive finishing blade when used on a timber trunk, is closer to the timber trunk than the preceding finishing blade taken in the direction of rotation of the tool head. The hacking blades process the side segments of a timber trunk as the trunk is passed over the smaller area end of the rotating tool head, in a direction perpendicular to the rotational axis of the tool head and the finishing blades smooth the even surface produced on the timber trunk.
