Abstract:
The invention relates to a lubricating pump which contains screw pistons of which one is in compression operation and the other is in suction operation in alternation. The invention further relates to a method for supplying lubricant, wherein a first screw piston is in a suction operation while a second screw piston is in a compression operation and vice versa, and wherein the two screw pistons are driven by means of a common gear train, which contains one piston gear for each screw piston.
Abstract:
A sealed capsule contains a beverage ingredient in powder form, in particular, ground coffee. The capsule comprises a base body (4) and a foil member (5) tightly attached to the base body (4), the foil member (5) being made from a material allowing the production of a multitude of perforations in the foil member (5) when the foil member (5) is thrust, via the pressure caused by injecting a liquid or a liquid/gas mix into the capsule, against a relief plate of a beverage production machine, wherein the capsule is provided with a flow control porous member (80), the flow control porous member (80) being positioned between at least a portion of ingredients (3) and the foil member (5). The flow control porous member provides a faster and more consistent flow of the liquid extract through the capsule and significantly reduces the resurgence of non-soluble solids.
Abstract:
A packaging machine and a device for monitoring a roll with film material wound thereon is disclosed. By means of a sensor arrangement, an end of the film material on the roll may be detected. The sensor arrangement includes at least one optoelectric sensor arranged stationary relative to a front side of the roll. The optoelectric sensor is designed such that a portion of an outer circumference of the rotating roll may be detected.
Abstract:
A suction unit of a vehicle's air conditioning system has an air flow canal (16), which features a suction opening (18) for fresh air as well as a fan housing (28), which possesses an air inlet (29) and an air outlet (31). The air outlet ending (33) of a water separation chamber (42) is directly limited by an air filter (34), which is positioned upstream from the fan housing (28).

Abstract:
A system for selectively delivering different beverages having different foam levels by injection of a fluid under pressure into a capsule that contains a beverage-forming substance. The capsules include a chamber containing the substance and a beverage dispensing structure adapted to retain a certain extraction pressure in the chamber before allowing the beverage to flow out of the capsule. The system is characterized in that first and second capsules are provided for selective use in the system, with the first capsule having a first beverage dispensing structure configured and positioned therein to retain a first extraction pressure in the capsule, prior to the complete delivery of the beverage, and the second capsule having a second beverage dispensing structure configured and positioned therein to retain a second extraction pressure in the capsule, prior to the complete delivery of the beverage. The first extraction pressure is higher than the second extraction pressure so that a greater amount of foam is created upon delivery of the beverage from the first capsule as compared to that created by the second capsule. This allows a user of the system to select a cartridge that produces a beverage with the desired foam content.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method for reading, while using optical interference, a barcode that extends into the depth of a substrate. The barcode is represented by an area with marks in the substrate that is partially transparent to electromagnetic radiation. The inventive method comprises the steps of irradiating the substrate with short coherence length light from a broad-band light source, dividing the light up into reference light and measuring light, returning the reference light and the measuring light back-scattered or reflected in the marked area to an analytical unit, determining the reflectance or the reflectivity of the substrate for all layer depths in the marked area from the interference of the reference light and the measuring light and interpreting the result as a barcode.

A method for the manufacture of halophthalic acid by liquid phase oxidation of halo-ortho-xylene is disclosed. The halophthalic acid may be dehydrated to form halophthalic anhydride which is useful in the synthesis of polyetherimide.
Abstract:
Suction device to draw off sample liquids from filtration vessels to recipient vessels including an evacuable chamber, which has an upper opening with a continues circular sealing surface for marginally supporting at least one filtration vessel mountable in place from top and may be opened for the insertion and removal of at least one recipient vessel, and including a support parallel to the sealing surface to enable the recipient vessel to be positioned in the chamber below the filtration vessel wherein the upper opening including the circular sealing surface is disposed on a first chamber portion adapted to be displaced with regard to a stationarily disposed, second chamber portion including the support where the first and second chamber portions complement each other in a charging position to form a sealed chamber and the first chamber portion releases the support, in an access position displaced away from the second chamber portion, for the insertion and removal of the recipient vessel.
