摘要: An injection catheter is provided. The injection catheter comprises a catheter body comprising a flexible tubing having proximal and distal ends and at least one lumen therethrough. A tip section comprising a flexible tubing having proximal and distal ends is mounted on the distal end of the catheter body. A needle control handle is provided at the proximal end of the catheter body. The needle control handle comprises an outer body having a piston chamber therein, a piston having two ends, wherein one end of the piston is slidably mounted within the piston chamber, and a compression spring in the piston chamber between the outer body and the piston. An injection needle extends through the tip section, catheter body, and needle control handle. The injection needle has a proximal end attached to one of the outer body and the piston and a distal end within the distal end of the tip section. Longitudinal force applied to one of the outer body and the piston causes longitudinal movement of the other of the outer body and the piston, thereby compressing the compression spring, resulting in distal movement of the injection needle relative to the catheter body so that the distal end of the injection needle extends outside the distal end of the tip section.

摘要: A safety needle assembly has a needle with a pointed tip and at least one generally planar wing attached via a pivot pin to the needle. The wings are moveable between an unguarded position wherein the tip of the needle is exposed to facilitate insertion of the needle and a guarded position wherein access to the tip of the needle is inhibited so as to reduce the likelihood of inadvertent needle stick.

摘要: An apparatus for maintaining an intravascular access device in position at an access point on a limb of a patient includes a needle immobilizing unit engaging the needle member and preventing it from dislodgement from the blood vessel, a tube locking member locking the connecting tube in place and preventing it from being separated from the needle member, and a strap which supports the needle immobilizing unit and the locking member immovably on the limb of a patient. For further support of the apparatus in place, a splint assembly is provided which includes two splint members, forearm splint member which is secured to the forearm part of the limb and arm/hand splint member which is securable to either the arm or hand of the limb. The splint members can be used separately or coupled to each other; joint between the splint members has a latching mechanism allowing to adjust the angle between the forearm and arm/hand splint members. The strap carrying the needle immobilizing unit and the tube locking member is secured to a splint member and facilitates in securing the splint.

摘要: An anchoring system includes a simply-structured device which permits a portion of a catheter or similar medical article to be easily anchored to a patient, desirably without the use of tape or needles and suturing. The anchoring system desirably includes a retainer and an anchor pad. The retainer is sized and configured to accept and retain a section of a catheter within the anchoring system and desirably includes a pair of posts and a clip. The posts are sized and configured to releasably accept holes formed in the catheter or catheter fitting. The clip is sized and configured to releasably accept a portion of the catheter. The anchor pad secures the retainer to a patient's skin.

摘要: A fluid collection device includes a receptacle for holding a fluid collecting vial and a shield that telescopically receives a portion of the receptacle. The receptacle and shield have closed distal ends with aligned apertures for receiving a vacuum needle. The receptacle is axially displaced within the shield between two releasable locking positions. The first releasable locking position is a “needle exposure” position, wherein the needle is exposed outside of the shield and is ready for use. The second releasable locking position is a “needle storage” position, wherein the needle is completely withdrawn into the shield for protective storage during nonuse. The receptacle has at least one locking tab and at least one engaging tab, and the shield has at least one slot and at least one barrier for receiving and engaging the locking tab and engaging tab, respectively. When in the “needle storage” position, the engaging tab is received within the slot and an edge of the locking tab abuts the barrier to prevent the receptacle from moving axially within the shield beyond a selected distance between the receptacle proximal end and the shield proximal end. The locking tab may further be depressed radially toward the exterior surface of the receptacle to disengage the locking tab from the barrier and release the device from the “needle storage” position.

摘要: A catheter retention device comprises an oval base with a centrally located bore there through, an elevated disk portion surrounding said bore and two retention ring housing elements with centrally disposed bores whose axis are perpendicular to one another. The retention device is useful in securing the catheter so that any inadvertent physical force or traction exerted against it will not move the catheter or pull it from its incision. The catheter itself is threadably inserted through all the bores of the retention device which is then attached to the patients body at the ostomy site with sutures, tape or liquid adhesives. Preferably, the retention device is used in conjunction with gastrostomy or jejunal feeding tubes.

摘要: This syringe comprises a tubular piece surrounding the body of the syringe and driving the stem of the plunger of the syringe. During injection, the tubular piece slides forward on the body. At the end of injection the tubular piece detaches from the stem and, its front part can continue to slide in order to sheathe the needle.
