Abstract: Light assemblies comprise a housing having a chamber, one or more light emitting elements connected with the housing, a transparent cover, and one or more reflectors positioned adjacent the light emitting element. The one or more light emitting elements are interposed between the transparent cover and the one or more reflectors, and the one or more light emitting elements and one or more reflectors operate to provide a multi-directional field of illumination that is 180 degrees or more, e.g., between about 180 to 270 degrees. The transparent cover may have a convex outer surface to facilitate light transmission in side oriented directions. The light assembly may include switches or controls for on/off and/or dimming functions. An example light assembly comprises three light emitting elements in the form of LEDs, and includes three reflectors, wherein the LEDs and reflectors are configured to produce the desired field of illumination.

Abstract: Lighting systems are described. A lighting system includes a first lead frame portion and a second lead frame portion. The first lead frame portion has at least a top surface, a bottom surface, and an opening. The second lead frame portion is within the opening of the first lead frame portion and has at least a top surface and a bottom surface. Light-emitting diode (LED) devices are each mechanically and electrically coupled to the top surface of the first lead frame portion and the top surface of the second lead frame portion. An electrically insulating and optically reflective material is disposed over exposed regions of the top surfaces of the first and second lead frame portions.

Abstract: According to at least one aspect, a lighting device is provided. The lighting device comprises a circuit board, a light emitting diode (LED) mounted to the circuit board and configured to emit light, a lens disposed over the LED having a bottom surface facing the circuit board, a top surface opposite the bottom surface, and a lateral surface between the top and bottom surfaces, and an elastomer encapsulating at least part of the circuit board. The elastomer may not be in contact with at least part of the lateral surface of the lens so as to form a gap between the elastomer and the lateral surface of the lens.

Abstract: A baffle for use in a light fixture that includes one or more light emitter positions includes one or more upper edges, each of the upper edges encircling a light emitting aperture and lying within an upper region. The baffle also includes one or more lower edges that correspond in number with the one or more upper edges, each lower edge lying within a lower region, and encircling an output aperture. Plan view shapes of the upper and lower edges form closed shapes that are devoid of angles. The baffle further includes an interior baffle surface that extends downwardly from each of the upper edges to corresponding ones of the lower edges. The interior baffle surface is continuously and downwardly concave from each of the upper edges to each of the lower edges, and is devoid of angles.

Abstract: A wavelength conversion element includes a support member having a supporting surface, and a wavelength converter disposed above the supporting surface. The wavelength converter contains first fluorescent particles which absorb excitation light and generate fluorescence (second radiation light), and a transparent binder which bonds the first fluorescent particles, and has a joint surface facing supporting surface, and an incident surface disposed opposite to the joint surface, the excitation light entering the incident surface. The excitation light and fluorescence are emitted from the incident surface. The wavelength converter includes projections. At least part of the projections is disposed on the incident surface. The first fluorescent particles are partially exposed from vertices of the projections.
