    摘要: An implantable fluid distribution device is described. The device includes a first inlet for receiving fluid under pressure from a remote pump. A plurality of outlets are also provided, each outlet being connectable to a fluid delivery catheter. A valve mechanism is arranged to control the passage of fluid from the first inlet to the plurality of outlets. Apparatus including the fluid distribution device, an implantable pump and a plurality of drug delivery catheters is also described. The fluid distribution device can be used to delivery drug to multiple regions in the body and the sequential delivery of drugs to different sites in the brain is disclosed.

    摘要: A bubble free, self-priming IV set for use in the administration of liquids includes a coupling assembly for attaching the delivery system to a source of liquid and includes a coupling membrane for controlling the flow of liquid and air through the coupling assembly. The system also includes a drip chamber for receiving liquid through the coupling assembly, the drip chamber having a membrane for preventing air from leaving the drip chamber. A self leveling port is disposed within a wall of the drip chamber, the port being permeable to air, but impermeable to liquid. Finally, a patient conduit is in fluid communication with the drip chamber and further comprises a flow control plug disposed at the distal end of the conduit. The flow control plug is permeable to air but impermeable to liquid. Use of this system allows a clinician to attach a source of fluid to a patient without significant intervention, while the system self primes.

Each protrusion (13) is of a compressible material. Upon insertion of a tubular member (11) into a lumen defined through a drain tube of the medical drainage device, the protrusions (13) engage the internal surface of the drain tube and deform to sealingly engage the internal surface.
