Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a communication device may classify a set of packets of streaming video content based at least in part on one or more video characteristics; assign the set of packets to a plurality of transport blocks based at least in part on classifying the set of packets, wherein a first transport block is associated with a first set of values for a set of communication parameters and a second transport block is associated with a second set of values for the set of communication parameters, and wherein the set of communication parameters is associated with a layer mapping technique; and provide the plurality of transport blocks for transmission based at least in part on assigning the set of packets to the plurality of transport blocks. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to support scheduling aperiodic random access occasion resources. The aperiodic random access occasion resources may be dynamically scheduled by a primary secondary cell (PSCell) associated with a base station. When performing a random access procedure for the PSCell, the base station may initiate the random access procedure via an order transmitted to a user equipment (UE). The order may represent a unicast transmission addressed to the UE and may indicate for the UE to transmit a preamble to begin the random access procedure. The order may also indicate resources (e.g., an offset of time resources) and a preamble index for transmission of the preamble. The UE may receive the order and may transmit the preamble based on the information included in the order.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may transmit a set of synchronization signals (SSs) with a first periodicity to a channel engineering device and one or more other wireless devices. The base station may transmit a message to configure the channel engineering device with one or more signaling directions and a second periodicity for the channel engineering device to transmit the set of SS, the second periodicity different from the first periodicity. The one or more signaling directions and the second periodicity may be configured for adjusting a coverage area of the set of SS after transmission from the base station. The base station may receive, from a user equipment (UE) or other wireless device, a second message that includes an indication of whether the set of SS were received by the UE directly from the base station or via the channel engineering device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling indicating a network coding configuration for a set of transmit beams, each transmit beam in the set of transmit beams being spatial division multiplexed with respect to the other transmit beams of the set. The UE may identify based at least in part on the control signaling, a first set of one or more transmit beams of the set of transmit beams carrying parity information for a second set of one or more transmit beams in the set of transmit beams. The UE may perform beamformed communications over the set of transmit beams in accordance with the network coding configuration and the parity information.

Generally, the described techniques provide for a base station to transmit a feedback configuration to a user equipment (UE) indicating a subcarrier spacing and a length of a cyclic prefix (CP) that the UE is to use to transmit feedback associated with a second frequency band (e.g., a high frequency band) using a first frequency band (e.g., a low frequency band). The UE may monitor the second frequency band for downlink messages transmitted by the base station and transmit a feedback message accordingly using the indicated subcarrier spacing and applying a CP having the indicated length.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit, to a channel engineering device, a configuration for performing a downlink beam refinement procedure with a user equipment (UE). The channel engineering device may transmit one or more reference signals (e.g., one or more channel state information reference signals) to the UE. For instance, the channel engineering device may transmit the one or more reference signals to the UE over resources configured by the base station or may deflect (e.g., reflect, refract, or both) reference signals transmitted to the channel engineering device by the base station. After receiving the one or more reference signals, the UE may transmit a report to the channel engineering device that the channel engineering device may use to update a channel configuration of the channel engineering device (e.g., updating a downlink beam or angle of deflection at the channel engineering device).

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for reducing PAPR in wireless communications. Some implementations more specifically relate to suppressing the amplitudes of a data signal that exceed a threshold amplitude level. The data signal may represent transmit (TX) data associated with a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process. In some implementations, a transmitting device may detect one or more peaks associated with the data signal. The transmitting device may reduce the amplitudes of the samples associated with the detected peaks to produce the amplitude-suppressed data signal. The transmitting device may further generate peak suppression information indicating the amplitudes of one or more of the samples associated with the peaks. In response to receiving a NACK message, the transmitting device may transmit, to the receiving device, the peak suppression information, one or more coded bits representing the TX data (associated with the HARQ process), or any combination thereof.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A receiving device may receive a signal over a first frequency from a transmitting device. The receiving device may determine a set of angular offsets associated with communicating signals over a set of frequencies based on the angle of arrival of the signal, where each frequency of the set of frequency may be offset from the first frequency by a different amount. The receiving device may indicate the set of angular offsets to the transmitting device. The transmitting device may adapt a reception configuration for receiving signals from the receiving device, transmitting signal to the receiving device, or both based on the indication of the set of angular offsets.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to switch between waveform configurations based on an indicated modulation coding scheme (MCS) such that waveform switching may be signaled implicitly. A base station may configure a user equipment (UE) with a hybrid MCS table including MCS indexes associated with a first waveform configuration and MCS indexes associated with a second waveform configuration. The base station may schedule resources for an uplink transmission for the UE and may indicate an MCS index associated with the uplink transmission, using index from the MCS table. The UE may select a waveform configuration for the uplink transmission based on the MCS index. For example, the UE may compare the MCS index with a threshold MCS index of the hybrid MCS table and determine a waveform configuration associated with the MCS index based on whether the MCS index falls above or below the threshold.
