Abstract:
Disclosed are devices, methods and storage media for use in determining position information for imaging devices or mobile devices. In some implementations, a landmark is identified in an image which is obtained from an imaging device which in turn is positioned at a location and in a pose. A virtual two-dimensional image that would be visible from the landmark is determined based, at least in part, on the pose. The location or position information is based, at least in part, on the virtual two-dimensional image.
Abstract:
Disclosed are systems, apparatus, devices, methods, computer program products, and other implementations, including a method that includes determining at a mobile device whether verbal input from a user is required to determine position of location of the user. The method also includes, in response to a determination that the verbal input from the user is required to determine the position of the location of the user, obtaining at the mobile device verbal description data representative of one or more geographic features viewable by the user from the location of the user, identifying at the mobile device the one or more of the geographic features from the obtained verbal description data, and determining, at the mobile device, positioning information for the location of the user based, at least in part, on the one or more geographic features identified from the verbal description data.
Abstract:
Disclosed are systems, apparatus, devices, method, computer program products, and other implementations, including a method that includes capturing an image of a scene by an image capturing unit of a device that includes at least one sensor, determining relative device orientation of the device based, at least in part, on determined location of at least one vanishing point in the captured image of the scene, and performing one or more calibration operations for the at least one sensor based, at least in part, on the determined relative device orientation.
Abstract:
A method for template matching is described. In one implementation, an image including a target object is captured by a camera. A pose of the camera is estimated based, at least in part, on peripheral information from the image. Pre-selecting is performed on a set of pose templates by matching the pose of the camera to poses associated with pose templates to identify a set of matching pose templates. The template matching for the target object is then performed using the set of matching pose templates.
Abstract:
A digital map having a routing path is created. Points in at least a majority of a linear length of the path may be constrained so that they are disposed substantially equidistant between structural features that are bounding navigable spaces in a structure. The creating of the path may include selecting a connected component corresponding to some or all of the navigable spaces. A morphological process may be performed on the connected component to create the path.
Abstract:
Systems, apparatus and methods for merging maps used by a positioning server are presented. Original maps are overlaid, concatenated or inset to create a more detailed map. The original maps are from different sources and/or in different formats. By merging or fusing maps together, a positioning server may create a better structural map, which is in turn used to create improved positioning assistance data.
Abstract:
Systems, apparatus and methods disclosed herein facilitate vision based mobile device location determination. In some embodiments, a method for estimating a position of a mobile device may comprise: detecting that the mobile device is in communication with at least one of a plurality of devices, where each of the plurality of devices associated with a corresponding device identifier. The capture of at least one image by an image sensor coupled to the mobile device may be triggered, based, in part on: the device identifier corresponding to the device in communication with the mobile device, and/or a field of view of the image sensor. A location of the mobile device may then be determined, based, in part, on the at least one captured image.
Abstract:
A method for estimating camera pose includes: obtaining an image of a location captured via a camera, where the image includes a target object and edge line features outside of the target object; and calculating a pose of the camera with respect to the target object based on the edge line features.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for image-based status determination are presented. In some embodiments, a method includes capturing at least one image of a moving path. At least one feature within the at least one image is analyzed and based on the analysis of the at least one feature, a direction of movement of the moving path is determined. In some embodiments, a method includes capturing an image of an inclined path. At least one feature within the image is analyzed and based on analysis of the at least one feature, a determination is made whether the image was captured from a top position relative to the inclined path or a bottom position relative to the inclined path.
Abstract:
Methods, apparatuses, and devices for rendering indoor maps on a display device of, for example, a mobile device, are presented. In one example, a processor of a mobile device may receive identifiers, such as alphanumeric identifiers, for points of interest (POI) and map at least portions of the identifiers to colors within a suitable color space, such as a RGB color space.
